Caitlin Clark is a bonafide superstar in the world of sports. Her stardom has made her both a celebrity as well as a household name. Her fan following is such that people wait to meet or catch a glimpse of the Indiana Fever guard.

This stardom saw fans lining up to exchange friendship bracelets at Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour concert. The situation was such that Clark could not understand why they would miss Swift’s performance to exchange bracelets with her.

That question was probably answered in the form of rising ticket and merchandise sales. Most of the games she will play in her second WNBA season will be at NBA size arenas. Teams have been forced to shift base only to cater to the demand from fans who want to see her play.

Last season, a number of celebrities ended up at arenas to watch her play for the Indiana Fever. Some get to meet her, but some such as two-time NBA Champion Mychal Thompson, were too starstruck to even greet her. Klay Thompson‘s father revealed this to Outkick.

I was leaving the Gainbridge Arena in the loading dock, Caitlin Clark walked right by me. And I froze. I didn’t say hello to her. My favorite basketball player outside of Klay was right there in front of me, there she was, and I said ‘No, I can’t do it’. Caitlin Clark was right there next to me.

Mychal Thompson played alongside Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to win two titles with the Showtime Lakers. In spite of being around those basketball legends, he was starstruck enough to not be able to at least greet Caitlin Clark.

Caitlin Clark was NCAA Champion’s toughest competitor

Some would suggest that Caitlin Clark is receiving all this attention due to the color of her skin or even her s**ual preferences. But before all that was discussed, she was lighting up college basketball with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Flau’jae Johnson, who faced Clark twice in college was asked who her toughest opponent was.

No. 1, I’m going to go with Caitlin Clark, by far.

Flau’jae Johnson said

The LSU star won the NCAA National Championship by defeating Clark and her Iowa Hawkeyes. Then last year, they got their revenge in the round of Elite Eight. Johnson formulated this opinion after facing her those two times.

If two meetings were enough to form that opinion, it goes to show how some opponents feel about her. Johnson might be pondering over her future. She has the option of declaring for the WNBA draft even though she has one more year of eligibility. If she does go Pro, she can battle Clark again.

Clark’s teammates return to work ahead of championship run

If Flau’jae Johnson does end up with a WNBA team, it is possible that she and her team lose against the Caitlin Clark. Indiana Fever completely reconstructed their roster this past offseason. Their current personnel have championship contender written all over them.

Players usually wait until the end of the NCAA tournament to return to work. But Clark has been working out at the Fever facilities all offseason. Now her teammates are returning to work with the coaching staff, the latest being Aliyah Boston.

The center was taking some time off after featuring in the Unrivaled League. She and her Vinyl team lost against fellow Fever teammate Lexie Hull‘s Rose. But now they have set that rivalry aside to get back and work towards a common goal.

The Fever have the tools necessary to go on a championship run. However, with this many new additions, all of them have to start working together to build chemistry. Without chemistry, there is no chance they can compete against other established teams.
