After Caitlin Clark confirmed she would not play anymore this season, many Indiana Fever fans were ready to throw in the towel. Even though Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston led them to the playoffs, there was not much hope that their run would last.
Heading into the 1st round playoff battle against the third-placed Atlanta Dream, almost all the analysts picked the latter to either sweep or win the 3-game series.
Those projections were turned upside down when the Fever, fueled by Mitchell and Boston, embarrassed the Dream in Game 2, and then upset the championship favorites in Game 3 with a total team effort.
The franchise proved that they can fight through adversity and win as a team. However, heading into the semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces, again, many did not doubt that A’ja Wilson and her Las Vegas Aces would show the Fever their rightful place.
Game 1 tipped off at Michelob Ultra Arena with the Fever somehow keeping pace with the second placed Aces. The former displayed their grit, pushing the home team in the 2nd quarter to head into the half with a small lead in hand.
Kelsey Mitchell went on a heater in the 1st half, using her 17 points to help the Fever believe they could cause an upset. In the 2nd half, the Aces threatened to reverse the tide, but the All-NBA guard took over late in the 3rd and helped her team claim a double-digit lead.
Kelsey unreal.

This was Caitlin Clark hyping up Kelsey Mitchell for leading the Fever to a resounding 89-73 victory over the Aces, spoiling A’ja Wilson’s WNBA history-setting achievement just minutes before the game.
A’ja Wilson’s record 4th WNBA MVP mired by loss to Fever
The Las Vegas Aces practiced after the Indiana Fever did at their facilities. As they were finishing up, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert came out along with Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo.

Seeing the latter carry the MVP trophy sent girlfriend A’ja Wilson crashing to the floor. She was both emotional as she was happy to set a WNBA record 4th MVP, while also knowing that the newest unofficial member of her family was there to hand her the silverware.
Wilson’s parents also joined in the celebrations as her teammates poured out love, cheering for their biggest star. Before the game, the league decided to officially celebrate the moment, with the Aces fans applauding their most important player.
Then, it all turned south for the 29-year-old, who struggled mightily despite scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She shot a mere 27% from the floor as the Fever pounced on loose balls to score on the other end.

The last time Wilson and her teammates faced such an embarrassment, they started a 16-game winning streak to surge up to 2nd in the table. That run was also the reason the Paris Olympics MVP was able to edge out Napheesa Collier in the MVP race. Maybe this loss could fuel a run to the title.
$200 fine fueled Caitlin Clark and Fever bench mob in win against Aces
Before this run to the semifinals, Caitlin Clark was visibly upset with the officiating in Game 1 of their 1st round clash against the Atlanta Dream. After her Indiana Fever won Game 2, she tweeted, suggesting the officials’ controversial calls could not stop them from winning.
It so happens that the WNBA does not like public comments about its referees, and just like it has been for her teammates, they proceeded to slap a $200 fine on the 23-year-old.
Got fined $200 for this lol… BENCH MOB WILL BE EVEN MORE ROWDY TOMORROW LETS GOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s not as if that fine would impact Clark’s income, considering she earns millions off the court. However, the fine seemed to have fueled the bench mob, who were electric throughout the game, giving Kelsey Mitchell and the others enough motivation to cause a major upset.
