The 2025 WNBA All-Star weekend was a brilliant mix of fun and seriousness. The former was made possible when Caitlin Clark and the 40-odd players chose to make the best of all the events, and the latter was when CBA negotiations hit a wall.

The players and their union have already rejected the league’s first proposal, with some players calling it a ‘slap in the face’. They want the WNBA and its owners to give them a fair share of the revenue.

Since the deadline to sign the next CBA is set for October first, time is winding down. Players are in the midst of a packed schedule, making it difficult for them to meet often and come to a decision.

Since the All-Star weekend was the only time a sizable number of them could come together, a meeting was arranged. Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and many others attended a CBA meeting for the first time.

The latter spoke about how she was shocked to know what the owners were not willing to give the players. She believes the athletes who make up the league are what drives it, and they should get their fair share.

Those 40-odd players partied two days straight. But when it came to making a statement, they came together to make their loudest collective statement yet. Before the All-Star Game tipped off, players took off their warm-up jackets to reveal T-shirts with a message.

Pay Us What You Owe Us.

All-Star T-shirt’s read

Even though Caitlin Clark was not playing, she took her jacket off and revealed the same T-shirt. Cameras captured her standing united with her sisters as they wanted the league to give them their due.

Caitlin Clark dispels endorsements vs. salary claims

No player in the WNBA earns more than Caitlin Clark. Not salary-wise, but through endorsements. She reportedly earned a staggering $11 million last calendar year. Compared to that, her measly $78,000 salary looks like chump change.

With individual endorsements on the rise, some believe players are getting their due. Clark understands that it is great to have extra income streams, but reiterated that the league has to still pay players what they deserve.

We are really fortunate that we have those other deals. That’s one of things we are in the room fighting for. We should be paid more, and hopefully that’s the case moving forward as the league continues to grow. That’s the most important thing that we are in the room advocating about.

Caitlin Clark said to reporters

Clark’s endorsement deals have been the source of the jealousy and pettiness that have been evident in the league. But the 23-year-old‘s presence in the CBA meetings has given off the vibe that she is united with her peers.

That should help change the perception around her as she uses her platform to help the women of the WNBA get their rightful share of revenue. Players are now going to get louder as the days wind down.

Caitlin Clark’s teammate tweets in support of their stance

With just a little over 100 days left for the deadline, players want to avoid having to force a work stoppage. They have started with this show of unity with their T-shirts. Now, other players across the league are joining in support, starting with one who is in Indiana.

Sydney Colson tweeted from inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse the moment her peers took their jackets off. Now that the details of the meeting will spread around the league, expect CBA chatter to become one of the dominant points of conversation.

Players will use every opportunity to get their rightful share. That is over and above their job of playing basketball at the highest level and giving fans exciting entertainment day in and day out.
