Caitlin Clark has admitted she is goofy and loves to troll her teammates and friends. When Sydney Colson gets added to the mix, basketball fans had a good idea where this was about to go.

The latter is well-known to be the ultimate jokester in the league. When mixing with a 23-year-old who uses her humor to build up rapport, that is usually a recipe for some hilarious situations.

At the same time, the two stars used their humor to build their relationship, and there was enough evidence that the two became very close.

They would dap up and embrace each other before games. They would joke around while on the bench and during practices, while also being serious when it mattered.

Then, when Colson collapsed to the floor and had to be helped off the court after tearing her ACL, the look on Clark’s face revealed what she felt for her veteran teammate.

The Iowa native is not one to shed tears, unless it was an injury that really bothered her. This time, her long face was enough indication of what was going through her mind.

Sydney Colson returned to Fever practices on crutches, and Caitlin Clark was there beside her, joking around. When it was time for the former to go through her surgery to repair the knee, the latter was again there to lighten up the mood.

Ayeee sick cap bro.

The reigning Rookie of the Year wrote this comment on Colson’s post-surgery live stream. She was one of the most active members on the stream, continuing to write comments meant to keep her sedated teammate in good spirits.

Caitlin Clark wanted a shoutout on Sydney Colson’s live stream

Sydney Colson started the live stream after she regained consciousness from her knee surgery. The stream shows the 36-year-old in her post-anesthesia babbling phase, asking nurses and doctors about her food.

All of this was broadcast through her live stream, which had her former teammate and podcast partner, Theresa Plaisance, on the other end. While they were talking, Caitlin Clark had a specific request for Colson.

Syd, can I get a shoutout?

Reading this, the Texas native asked her younger teammate to request to join the live stream. That did not happen, as it seems Clark then went off the broadcast.

These actions continue to prove that the two have become very close. It happens to be a major shift from a time when Colson’s agent used to criticize the media coverage Clark was enjoying.

She was forced to delete those tweets after her client decided to join the Indiana Fever. That, along with her unfiltered behavior at the All-Star weekend, has changed the perception Clark’s critics had about her.

Sydney Colson could miss the next WNBA season

The usual time for recovery from an ACL tear is 9 months. It can extend based on the rehabilitation program. In Sydney Colson’s case, there are some concerns about when she can return to play.

For starters, she is 36 years old. At that age, along with the wear and tear her knees have experienced over the years of playing basketball, it could take longer to completely recover.

Cameron Brink took more than a year to return to basketball. She tore her ACL on June 18th, 2024, and returned to play on July 30th.

Since Colson tore her ACL on August 7th and underwent surgery now, it could be safe to say that there is a slim chance she will be able to play in the 2026 season.

When taking her age into account, it might be wise to completely forego playing basketball next season and focus on returning in the 2027 season.
