Caitlin Clark revealed her biggest motivator as she took to the stage at the ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican LPGA tournament.
Caitlin Clark reveals she does not fear Angel Reese
WNBA’s reigning rookie sensation Caitlin Clark recently opened up about the motivation behind her drive for greatness. Although she’s engaged in on- and off-court rivalries with fellow rookie Angel Reese throughout her college and WNBA career, many might assume that her biggest motivator is a desire to outshine Reese. However, the Rookie of the Year (ROTY) has a different source of inspiration.
Caitlin Clark arrived at the ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican LPGA tournament in Tampa Bay this week. Clark took part in the pro-am event hosted by Swedish golf legend Annika Sörenstam. During a pre-tournament panel discussion, Clark was asked what fuels her competitive fire.
Clark admitted that her biggest motivator isn’t the rivalry with Angel Reese or anyone else — it’s her own desire to be the absolute best.
"I don't want anyone to be better than me."

It was a brutally honest admission from a young star whose achievements on the court have set high expectations. For Caitlin Clark, the drive isn’t about a specific opponent but rather her quest to push herself to be better than everyone else. Her first year on the court has been nothing but proof of this exact mindset.
In her rookie season, Caitlin Clark already cemented herself as one of the best players in the league. She led the Indiana Fever to the playoffs as the team’s leading scorer. She also broke the WNBA record for the most assists in a season. Her rivalry with Angel Reese was perhaps the highlight of the year, but Clark has made it clear that her only competition is with herself.
Caitlin Clark reveals her average golf score, and it’s better than you think
While basketball may be her primary focus, Caitlin Clark’s passion for golf is also noteworthy. She’s no stranger to the greens, and even though she humbly downplays her skills, her average score speaks volumes.
Clark mentioned she doesn’t have an official handicap but typically shoots in the “low 80s,” which is impressive for someone who balances a rigorous basketball career.
For Caitlin Clark, golf serves as a mental break from the scrutiny and pressure of professional sports. She stated that it gives her time to reset and just enjoy the quiet. In her interview with Golf Digest last year, Clark explained how she was introduced to Golf by her father. Since then, taking to the Greens has been her way of calming down and taking a break from the high-energy world outside.
