In Short
  • Caitlin Clark names Nikola Jokic as the best player in the world and admires his playing style.
  • She reaffirms LeBron James as her greatest of all time (GOAT) after a photography interaction.
  • Clark expresses her team's ambition to win the WNBA championship this season despite offseason uncertainties.

Caitlin Clark has often made it clear that there are certain players she looks up to and learns from as she continues to grow in her own basketball career as a young superstar.

That brings a lot of pressure on her shoulders, as not only has the point guard had to ensure her performances on the court are as good as the hype, but she also has to continue to evolve.

After her rookie season, the Indiana Fever star went to work, trying to add more moves to her game. She knew opponents were going to do everything to slow her down.

Even though her sophomore season did not pan out as she would have liked, the learning has not stopped. Clark has taken the opportunity to watch and learn as she moves toward her third season in the league.

Before she does that with her Fever when training camp opens on April 19th, the Iowa native has a few more offseason engagements to fulfill, including returning for another stint with NBC before their Sunday Night Basketball games start.

Honestly, he’s (Nikola Jokic) probably my favorite player to watch, and I think he’s the best player in the world. You run two at him, he’s going to make the right play, he’s going to find the right pass… No matter what the other team does, he’s going to find a way to tear you apart.

Caitlin Clark told her NBC colleagues

This means Clark has been watching and learning from Nikola Jokic, whom she considers the best basketball player in the world. Maybe she is hoping to use that in her WNBA career.

Caitlin Clark reiterates LeBron James is her GOAT

After talking about Nikola Jokic and how she watches him play, NBC’s Maria Taylor asked Caitlin Clark about her recent stint as the Indiana Pacers’ official celebrity photographer.

You guys didn’t even show the pictures of LeBron that I took. Those weren’t too bad… The King. That’s my GOAT… I swear we made eye contact, so I set down the camera, and I smiled at him, and he just looked at me with a straight face. He didn’t see me, but the photo turned out well.

Caitlin Clark replied

The 24-year-old was miffed as NBC just showed the pictures she took of the Pacers and not of LeBron James. She clarified how she tried to smile and catch his attention, but the Los Angeles Lakers superstar did not return the gesture.

It is not that Clark and James have not interacted with each other, but the fact that she wanted her GOAT to acknowledge her says a lot about how she looks up to the four-time NBA champion.

Caitlin Clark reiterates Fever’s desire to ‘win-it-all’ this year

Before Caitlin Clark interacted with the rest of NBC’s crew, she had a few moments with Maria Taylor alone, where the host asked the WNBA star if the Fever is still thinking about winning the championship this year.

We were trying to win it all last year, and it’s certainly what we are trying to do this year. It is a very unique situation, I think there is over 100 players in the league that are free agents… We have a great core… I think we are going to be the favorites to win it all. It adds a little pressure, but that’s what you love about it.

Clark replied

The two-time All-Star was a bit apprehensive about how her team would look once the offseason is over, as most of her teammates from last year are free agents.

But whoever ends up with her, Clark will be looking to compete and win the WNBA championship. That has been the goal ever since she came into the league.
