Caitlin Clark was given the chance to select which movie star would best play her in a biopic, and she answered with Anne Hathaway.

Merely calling Caitlin Clark a sensation is underselling the impact of the Indiana Fever superstar by a lot. It is hardly a stretch to call her the biggest basketball star or personality in the world right now. The likes of LeBron James and Stephen Curry have a stake in this conversation. But neither of those men have played a game viewed by 19.3 million television viewers since their 2016 NBA Finals faceoff.
Clark’s arrival in the WNBA ushered in an era of hitherto unseen visibility for the women’s basketball league. There were more viewers for a Caitlin Clark preseason game than for many regular season games in 2024. Her advent brought about a competitive edge from opponents that had been missing. Coaches and players around the league played their most robust defensive schemes against the Fever in her initial month or so.
Caitlin’s play has always been high-level, but what differentiates her as a true standout celebrity is her personality. The girl from Iowa has a childish, chaotic energy to her that has stayed untamed despite her rise to fame.
It has enabled her to rub shoulders with the likes of David Letterman and impress even the septuagenarian. It’s the feature that distinguishes her from Victor Wembanyama or Connor Bedard – highly rated youngsters with GOAT potential, but without the ‘cool’ factors to their personalities.
In many ways, Clark is not just the woman who could dominate the sport of basketball like never before. She is also the ‘It girl’ for the sport – a magnetic personality who could rein in casuals with her presence. It’s for these reasons that many people believe that a biopic on her life and times is inevitable. But who could play the part of such an exciting sporting talent?
When a reporter posed this question to the 23-year-old and asked her to pick one movie star to play her in the movie, Clark went with a safe and sound option.
That’s tough…Anne Hathaway? Is that a good pick?
Caitlin Clark answered
"In the inevitable biopic of your life, who would you want to play you?" 👀🎬

Since going with Anne Hathaway as her answer in this pre-draft question from 2024, Clark has often shown with her dressing sense how she views the actress who played the role of Catwoman as her style inspiration.
Caitlin Clark is primed for a redoubtable sophomore year in the WNBA
The Indiana Fever have changed their roster substantially in comparison to what it looked like last year. They’ve let go of some players, including NaLyssa Smith and Erica Wheeler, who were staples for the team. New head coach Stephanie White has been instrumental in the team’s decision to bring in DeWanna Bonner. Indiana has also signed Sophie Cunningham, likely as a 3-and-D bench player.
In addition, the team successfully pitched Kelsey Mitchell to stay with the Fever as a free agent. The trio of Aliyah Boston, Mitchell and Clark were instrumental to the Fever returning to the WNBA playoffs as sixth seeds last year. Boston and Clark will both be expected to take big steps this year in production.
Clark finished her rookie season averaging 20 points and 8 assists per game. This is despite an initially lower production on both counts during her first couple of months in the league. One can expect her to break her own point production record from 2024 and reset the offensive engine bar higher than the WNBA has ever seen. For a player like Clark with the potential to become the GOAT, the sky is the limit.
