Entering her third season in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark is looking forward to finally fulfilling her goal of leading her Indiana Fever to a championship.
It has been quite a while since the franchise enjoyed a title win, and the belief is that the superstar point guard with her electric shooting and blinding passing ability can be the fuel they need to hoist another one.
Last season, the goal was the same, but injuries to Clark and a few others stopped that hope at the semi-final stage. This meant the team was good for a shot, but just needed to be healthy.
A few weeks ago, the Iowa native proved that the offseason rest helped her, as she led USA Basketball to sweep all their FIBA Regional Qualifying games, while also winning the tournament MVP.
Now, all she needs is for her teammates to be healthy, and they will be ready to prove they did not have a fluke run last year. But to get to that point, first, the Fever need to assemble a team worthy of contending.
With two new teams joining this year, the first order of business was to hope that the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo do not select players who were instrumental in last year’s run.
My Aussie for life.

This was the superstar’s reaction when the Fire selected Chloe Bibby. The Fever signed the Australian to take Caitlin Clark’s place, and her performances and camaraderie were good enough that she quickly became a good friend of the point guard.

Chloe Bibby was good as a stretch four, as the forward’s three-point shooting off the bench was instrumental in the Fever’s run, up until she injured her knee.

Now, the 27-year-old is going to head West and will work hard for a place on the primary 12-woman roster. But she is not the only Australian Caitlin Clark will miss.
Kdub, ily.

This was the Iowa Hawkeye great’s reaction when Kristy Wallace, a guard who caught a lot of Caitlin Clark‘s passes in transition during the latter’s rookie year, was selected by the Toronto Tempo.

Wallace took time off last season from the Fever, but the point guard’s reaction suggests she was a good teammate to the two-time All-Star.
The Fever is now down to just three players, with Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Makayla Timpson under contract. First, they can possibly replace Chloe Bibby and Kristy Wallace with draft picks.
Then, they will need to sign all the others from last year, who are currently free agents, and waiting to earn a big raise after the new CBA gets ratified.
Caitlin Clark blocked Dave Portnoy
Last season, when Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever opened their campaign against Angel Reese‘s Chicago Sky, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was seated courtside wearing the former’s jersey.
It was believed that he must have a good relationship with her, as he was one of those who had defended her since her college days, and also was one of those who called out the WNBA for launching an investigation into alleged racial chants at the game he was in.
Rico Bosco cost me my relationship with Caitlin Clark. I’ll never forgive him.

It seems now that the relationship is over. Portnoy revealed how a mistake on the part of one of his podcast hosts led Clark to block him on social media.

The Fever guard is very supportive of her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, and by blocking Portnoy, she made it clear that she would not tolerate anyone taking shots at her family, even from her supporters.
