Caitlin Clark SLAMMED by WNBA star for ‘silence’ over her fans justifying ‘racism’

WNBA star DiJonai Carrington slams Indiana Fever rookie superstar Caitlin Clark for silence over her fans justifying racism

Ever since the narratives surrounding race has taken center stage, the WNBA and especially Caitlin Clark have been caught in the middle of it. Even though the Indiana Fever superstar has suggested that she does not want any part of it, the debate continues. But her compatriot and rival, Connecticut Sun’s DiJonai Carrington came out with her view on this situation.

Caitlin Clark said that she does not care how people are using her name to create a culture war. After this interview went viral, Carrington took to X to slam Clark.

Dawg. How one can not be bothered by their name being used to justify racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia & the intersectionalities of them all is nuts. We all see the sh*t, we all have a platform. We all have a voice & they all hold weight. Silence is a luxury.

The former Baylor star essentially slammed Clark for taking the easy road and avoiding any controversy. DiJonai Carrington believes the Indiana Fever rookie should have used her platform to give her view.

The 4th year WNBA guard wants Caitlin Clark to use her massive fame to help fix issues that are still prevalent in American society. Especially considering that the former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar is white and has a much larger audience with which she could ask for the improvement of society.

Even though Clark asked for equal respect for all WNBA players, shutting down those who use her name to talk about culture has almost put a lid on the discussions. But Carrington wants Clark to help people who have experienced all the negatives she listed. Caitlin Clark instead seems to be focused on basketball.

Caitlin Clark focused on basketball

DiJonai Carrington has a point. But Caitlin Clark may feel otherwise. She is the kind of superstar who wants her game to do the talking. Right now, she and her Indiana Fever are struggling mightily to win games in the WNBA. Individually, she is struggling to consistently score and is a long way off her college record-breaking standards.

It is possible, that she wants to improve her game first. Once she has earned the respect of her peers, she might want to weigh in on such topics. It is the same situation in every sport. Fans listen to established superstars. For instance, reporters did not ask rookie superstar Victor Wembanyama for his opinion on school shootings in the US. Instead, they asked LeBron James.

Fame alone is not a good enough reason to be able to voice one’s opinion. Once respect as a professional is established, the opinion will hold a lot more weight. That is why Caitlin Clark wants to focus on becoming better at basketball.
