WNBA star Caitlin Clark's play with the Indiana Fever has Skip Bayless hooked
The entire sporting world is aware that Caitlin Clark brings hordes of fans to watch her play basketball. That has inherently helped the WNBA to storm through in terms of popularity. That popularity has led many established analysts such as Skip Bayless to watch and discuss the women’s game more often.
The 72-year-old analyst has covered basketball for a very long time. In all those years, he has seen the NBA flourish to now where athletes earn in the hundreds of millions over the course of their careers. But in all this time, the WNBA was stagnant where not many followed the league.
This was the case until Caitlin Clark donned an Indiana Fever jersey and conjured her magic as one of the best players in the league. He also saw how her popularity, along with her game, brought fans to pack arenas. When the hosts of All the Smoke podcast asked Bayless what he sees in her that helps draw all those fans, Bayless replied:
Skip Bayless does not clearly know exactly why he finds the Indiana Fever guard captivating, as he detailed out that she does things which was never seen in the WNBA before. But at the same time, he finds her turnovers mindboggling.
Skip Bayless started watching Indiana Fever due to Caitlin Clark
Skip Bayless mentioned that he was not a big fan of Caitlin Clark when she was at Iowa, as he felt she was just a volume shooter with exciting logo threes. But with the Indiana Fever, her passing came to the forefront as the league had never seen such absurd passes from a score first guard.
To top it off, the analyst believes her play helped the Indiana Fever find a new identity playing basketball. That new identity helped the team enter the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons. But it is this new identity that had Bayless glued, as he explained.
Once he mentioned that, the former Undisputed host expressed he was unsure if the new head coach will help them play better. With the Rookie of the Year making it clear that she and her team want to contend for WNBA championships, the Fever felt it necessary to bring a change.
