Caitlin Clark’s ‘tired’ scoring nets B+ from renowned analyst

Basketball analyst Rachel Nichols gave Caitlin Clark a B+ grade for her WNBA All-Star performance

Caitlin Clark had a good first All-Star game of her short WNBA career. She tallied 10 assists to claim a new rookie record. That said, she shot a woeful 2-9 from the field. So much so that even though fans and compatriots wanted her to score ‘bombs’ from the logo, she could not make even one. This led renowned basketball analyst Rachel Nichols to talk about the misses.

She was a guest analyst on Undisputed on FS1 when Skip Bayless and Paul Pierce joined in to discuss the WNBA All-Star game. When it was her turn to talk about her analysis of Clark’s performance, she said:

Let's say B+. I mean she obviously didn't have a good shooting night, 0-7 from three. But she made up for it with assist, set a rookie record for WNBA All-Star assists. To me a lot of the shooting was tiredness. I think she's had a long run here. It's not an excuse, I'm just saying that's what I saw. She's not an A, I'd give her a B+ here.

Rachel Nichols was clear that the Indiana Fever rookie’s shooting overshadowed her record-setting assists. Something that came out of fatigue.

Fatigue could be the reason as she has been playing competitive basketball non-stop since Iowa training camp started in September last year. On top of that, Caitlin Clark hardly had time off once her college season was over. She had to start training camp ahead of her first WNBA season.

Nichols’ logic suggests that if Clark makes it to the WNBA All-Star next season, she will be much fresher and will make up for her poor shooting. That said, her 10 assists did help her to have an impact. Especially her dimes to Angel Reese and her other All-Stars.

Angel Reese posts pic of her and rival Caitlin Clark

Not long after the WNBA All-Star weekend was over, the participants had a celebratory event and then headed back to their respective locations. However, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese were given much-needed time off to recover their tired bodies.

Now on vacation, the Chicago Sky forward decided to celebrate her first All-Star appearance with a series of photos she posted on her official Instagram account. One of which showed her dapping up her college and now WNBA conference rival. It was a token of appreciation. Showing what the two of them have done for women’s basketball ever since their rivalry started in the 2023 NCAA Championship game.

It does not mean that their rivalry is over. The two will certainly look to have the upper hand over the other when they meet for their final regular season game on the 31st of August. Their battle to be the Rookie of the Year is yet to be settled.
