Caitlyn Jenner once again had to face the wrath of social media, over her insensitive and distasteful tweet on the demise of her old friend, O.J. Simpson. The late NFL star is counted among the most notorious athletes of all time.
However, such aversion from Jenner for Simpson isn’t anything new, as she gained quite the limelight for speaking up about how the former football player got away with murder. Upon hearing about the death of Simpson through his family’s announcement on X, the ‘I Am Cait‘ star reacted in just two words.
“Good Riddance,” wrote Jenner on her X handle, adding the hashtag of ‘O.J. Simpson.’
Jenner’s connection to Simpson ties back to the famous Kardashian family. She was married to Kris Jenner, whose ex-husband Robert Kardashian was the best friend and defense attorney of the former NFL player in his double murder trial in 1994.
Kris was also part of the group and was good friends with Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. He was even the best man at her and Kardasian’s wedding. But after the murder of Nicole, Kris stood by her and demanded justice. This was part of the reason why Kris split with her former husband and married Caitlyn later on, who supported her.
However, the verdict game in favor of Simpson and he was acquitted. During an interview in 2009, Caitlyn recalled how after the NFL star was acquitted, the Kardashian kids came up to him and said, “I told you he didn’t do it.” However, just like Kris, Caitlyn didn’t agree with the verdict. In fact, Caitlyn had bluntly claimed that she believed Simpson got away with those murders.
Fans react to Caitlyn Jenner’s tweet on O.J. Simpson
Even though fans on social media trended “Rot in Hell” for Simpson’s death, they didn’t seem to appreciate the harsh words from Caitlyn. As fans pointed out she also got away with the murder of a woman, back in 2015 during a fatal car accident.
One fan wrote, “I’m sure the family of that person you ran over, can’t WAIT to say the same about you!” while another wrote, “You next bitch didn’t you kill somebody with your car?” Some fans mocked how Caitlyn and Kris were once homies with Simpson and his wife, by adding their pictures. Here are some of the fan reactions:
Many voice their displease for Caitlyn talking of Simpson this way, when she is also responsible for death but her name was deliberately not involved. It appears fans believe Caitlyn was in no position to say anything over Simpson’s death.
