Dan Orlovsky urged the Chicago Bears fans to give Caleb Williams until November to prove himself after making a 0-2 start to his second year. Fans did not have to wait two months to witness Williams’ quarterback masterclass. He showcased it against the Dallas Cowboys in week three.

The mood in the Bears camp was sour following a blowout loss against divisional rivals, the Detroit Lions, last week. Ben Johnson’s tactics fell flat against his former employers.

Defense gave up 52 points. However, quarterbacks are always the soft targets in such losses. Williams received harsh criticism from every direction despite putting up 207 yards, two touchdowns, and 63% pass completion.

His form carried forward in the Dallas Cowboys fixture at Soldier Field. He threw 19 completions for 298 yards and 4 passing touchdowns (all before the end of the third quarter) to secure a much-needed first win of the season.

The Cowboys visited Chicago following an overtime win against the New York Giants. Vegas predicted the Cowboys to continue their momentum and beat the Bears, but they were proven wrong.

Five minutes into the first quarter, Williams led a 73-yard drive to connect with WR Rome Odunze for a touchdown to open the scoring for the Bears.

Brandon Aubrey’s field goal gave the Cowboys their first points, but it was quickly nullified on the very next play. Williams threw a 65-yard flea-flicker to rookie Luther Burden III for a touchdown to extend the gap.

The former first overall pick found tight end Cole Kmet under thirty seconds before halftime for a 10-yard touchdown on a drive that lasted just seven plays. This gave the Bears a ten-point advantage.

Right before the end of the third quarter, Johnson decided to finally kill the game off. He allowed Williams to throw on fourth down, and it resulted in a four-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore, who went completely unnoticed inside the Cowboys’ end zone.

According to Bears beat writer Jacob Infante for PFSN, this was Caleb Williams’s second four-touchdown haul, tying him with former QBs Justin Fields and Erik Kramer and only trailing to Billy Wade (3) and Jay Cutler (4).

Williams also leads the league in touchdown passes with seven (tied with the Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers). After three games, Williams stands at 715 passing yards, 64.1% pass completion, and a passer rating of 102.4.

However, these stats pale in comparison to what SiriusXM’s David Shepard discovered. Shepard compared Williams’ first 20 NFL game numbers with those of seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady.

Williams has amassed 27 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and 586 rushing yards, while Brady threw 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions and ran for 60 total yards in his first twenty games for the New England Patriots.

Williams is one step closer to reaching his goal of becoming the first Bears quarterback to throw 4000 yards in a season. He needs a solid game against the Raiders to continue his rich vein of form.
