“Played like a bust that he is” – Caleb Williams’ abysmal outing in Bears’ win has fans questioning the No.1 pick’s credibility

The Chicago Bears kick off their 2024-25 season with a win against the Tennessee Titans (24-17). The much-anticipated season opener was set to give fans of the Windy City a taste of their future quarterback’s talents. However, Caleb Williams ended up winning the war on opening night but lost the battle.
The first overall pick of this year’s draft failed to leave his mark on the game. He had a total of 93 yards passing and 15 yards rushing. Although it was his first game, it was surprising to see Caleb Williams struggle. The Titans’ defense did not make it easy as they sacked him twice and caused him to fumble the ball once.
Williams almost got the first touchdown throw of his professional career when he passed to Keenan Allen in the endzone, but the wideout failed to catch the pass and the Bears had to settle for a field goal.
Caleb Williams’ season-debut struggles leaves fans concerned about his abilities
In college football, Williams had an edge over defenses and was able to navigate past them using his legs. He attempted to do the same in his debut but did not have much success against skilled and experienced veterans.
The season is a marathon, not a sprint and for Caleb Williams, his first game should be a learning experience. However, his confidence is likely to have put a target on his back. This means when the Bears go up against the best teams in the NFL, he is going to have a much harder time. Fans trolled Williams for his poor outing and minimal contributions to the team on X.

Despite his underwhelming performance, there was a silver lining in the Bears’ victory over the Titans. This win made Caleb Williams the first quarterback who was drafted #1 overall to win in his season debut since 2002. Hopefully, the rookie will turn things around in Week 2 when he takes on CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans.
