- Caleb Williams responds to critics by sharing a TikTok compilation of negative comments about his rookie season.
- He aims to become the greatest scoring offense in the NFL, targeting Peyton Manning's single-season touchdown record.
- Maxx Crosby expresses strong support for Williams, highlighting his potential and shared mindset in approaching the game.
Around this time last year, not many were confident of Caleb Williams‘ ability to play the quarterback position in the NFL. After all, ‘miserable’ was the kindest way anyone could summarize his rookie season. Fast forward to now, and many of those critics have changed their opinion. They saw how, under proper guidance, the USC alum could flourish along with his teammates.
Williams did have some trouble with interceptions, but he made it up with his clutch late-game performances. If not for his teammate’s mistake on the final throw of the Divisional Round, maybe he would have had something more to say to his critics.
That disappointing end, though, has not stopped him from calling out his critics. Recently, he took to TikTok and reposted a compilation of the nastiest opinions about him from his rookie season. The video shows some of them labeling him a bust, and one said he would be the worst No. 1 draft pick since JaMarcus Russell. It is one thing to criticize a player’s struggles.
But to label him as the closest to arguably one of the biggest busts in NFL history was a bit extreme. Then there was the regular criticism from Stephen A. Smith.

To top it all, Caleb Williams shared a clip of Green Bay Packers’ star Christian Watson claiming a 4th-down stop would cement their Wild Card Round win, only for the WR to be left dumbfounded by the QB’s scramble and throw under pressure.
Maxx Crosby gives Caleb Williams his flowers
Caleb Williams was trolling everyone who did not believe in him, particularly as he had the last laugh. But some, such as Las Vegas Raiders’ star Maxx Crosby, felt otherwise.

Just to be open and honest… You’re one of those guys for sure, and you’re just getting started. I don’t even know you understand yet how good you can be, and that’s the scariest part… You know we’re locked in forever… You need me, hit me at any time.
Maxx Crosby said
This was when the pass rusher had the Bears quarterback on his podcast, The Rush. It seems Crosby is a big fan of the 2024 1st overall pick, even though his interception off Williams almost helped his Raiders win in Week four.

Crosby revealed that he and the QB share the same mindset about how they approach their game. That is why he believes the 24-year-old could be on the path to greater things. The Raiders star believes it will be scary when Caleb Williams reaches his potential.
Caleb Williams targets scoring record
Maybe a few more offseasons with head coach Ben Johnson and fine-tuning plays with his receivers could help Caleb Williams maximize his potential. But before that, the signal caller has another goal.
I really wanna become the greatest offense this year… Find ways to put up points every single time we are out there.
Caleb Williams said
While saying this to Maxx Crosby, Williams detailed how he and his Chicago Bears offense want to work on the little things that can make the difference.

His goal is to score on every possession, which could help them be the 21st-century variant of the ‘Greatest Show on Turf.’ Then, the QB mentioned Peyton Manning‘s single-season touchdown record. Last season, Caleb Williams threw 27 touchdowns. That means, he is effectively looking at doubling that number if he wants to get close to The Sheriff’s record.
It is a long shot, but with Ben Johnson’s wizardry and his tendency to go all-out on every single drive, the dream of having a great offensive season could not be too far-fetched.
