Caleb Williams draft: When is USC QB eligible for the NFL Draft?

For the ones watching USC football, Caleb Williams is no stranger. The Trojan Quarter Back is one of the emerging sports icons in the United States, winning the Maxwell Award, the AP Player of the Year Award in 2022, and the Heisman Trophy.
He has shown staggering stats in his play, leading the number of touchdowns in the nation. Ever since he joined the Trojans, he turned them from a 4-8 to 11-2 within a year.
However, one question lingers in every football fan’s mind watching him: When will Caleb Williams be eligible for the NFL Draft? Many teams are still drooling over the prospect of him joining their team.
When will Caleb Williams be eligible for his NFL Draft?

This year, in 2023, Caleb Williams will be a junior. He will be available in the pool for the 2024 NFL Draft.
For this year, the teams looking for their perfect QB might have to seek different options from the pool. Williams had garnered much praise and some lofty comparisons after winning the Heisman Trophy.
Super Bowl-winning head coach Sean Payton praised this college QB and said, “this is the type of player that would make the NFL adopt a lottery draft.” This implies that many of the NFL teams might be ready to shell out several trades for him, making him one of the most significant prospects for the league.
William’s style of play and aggression as a quarterback has drawn comparisons of him with Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes. If Williams were available in this year’s draft, he would have been the first choice for several league top teams.
USC Trojans missed out on their place in the playoffs owing to an unfortunate loss to the Utes on December 2, 2022. Williams’ hamstring injury in the match against the Pac-12 greatly affected their qualification chances.
Williams did not hesitate to address this in his Heisman Trophy acceptance speech. Directing towards Stetson Bennet, C.J. Stroud, and Max Duggan, he said, “I may be standing up here today, but y’all go to the College Football Playoff”.
Speaking of Caleb Williams’ stats last season, the numbers show him becoming a college footballing icon. He rushed 109 times for 372 yards and had 10 touchdowns from 13 games this season. He has also completed 296/448 passes for 4,075, 37 touchdowns, and four interceptions. This makes him lead the table in touchdowns recorded this season.
Now that we know Caleb Williams is eligible for the draft in 2024, this makes the competition for him much more intense. Only time will tell which team he will finally land into for his maiden NFL season.
