Caleb Williams is fitting right in with the Chicago Bears fans. The first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has won over the hardliners with just one gesture.

There are two qualities required to live in Chicago. The first is to build up a tolerance for the extreme cold weather and the second is to hate the Green Bay Packers.

Williams has grown accustomed to both of those demands. A video shared by Barstool Sports showed the 22-year-old joined in with a few Bears fans who were shouting ‘Green Bay Sucks.’

When did the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers rivalry begin?

The two of the longest-running franchises in professional football first met each other back in 1921. The Bears were called Staley back in those days. They won the first matchup 20-0.

A rivalry still in its infancy finally took off three years later because of an ejection. Frank Hanny for the Bears and Tillie Voss for the Packers were ejected after the two players got into a fight in the middle of the game per FOX Digital.

After the NFL merger, the two sides ended up in the NFC Center (now the NFC North). So, every season they battle for supremacy home and away.

Despite the Bears’ early dominance in the fixture, the Packers have been the team to beat for the last 15 to 20 years. Since Aaron Rodgers became the quarterback in Green Bay, the Bears only won 9 games against the bitter rivals.

The inclusion of Caleb Williams, a Heisman Trophy winner, brought a ray of hope to the Bears fans. They would love to relive the glory days of the ‘80s when they last won their only Super Bowl. However, beating the Packers will be at the top of their agenda.

Matt Eberflus working overtime to get Caleb Williams NFL-ready

Even though the USC graduate received the tag of a generational talent, he is a rookie yet to take a snap in professional football. So the Bears coaching staff are taking extra measures to get him to learn the playbook as quickly as possible.

The Bears are working overtime to get him used to taking the ball under center, shotgun, play-action, all the nuances of their NFL-style offense, which he didn't always use at USC. I'm told he's really taken to that.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on SportsCenter

Fowler spoke with Williams’ personal quarterback coach Will Hewlett, who revealed that his client has been learning the Bears set up since last April.

He's also using his arm strength to try to see what he can get away with at OTAs, resulting in the occasional inaccurate pass to interception. That's okay, trying to work out the kinks until September.
Jeremy Fowler added

The Bears possess a quality receiver core with DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and the 9th overall pick in 2024 Rome Odunze. If Williams can link up with them during game days, then NFL teams will have problems on their hands.
