As predicted, the Chicago Bears selected Caleb Williams as the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Close to 400,000 spectators turned up in Detroit to watch general manager Ryan Poles perhaps pick up one of the best deals in Bears history.
As Emmanuel Acho previously said, it would be surprising that Williams doesn’t become an instant starter. Now that the Bears have selected the former USC quarterback who got rid of their starter from last season, Justin Fields, to make way for the 21-year-old.
Williams will walk into the Bears locker room like Andrew Luck did for the Indianapolis Colts back in 2011. The expectations will be similar to hitting the ground running but for a longer period.
The Bears finished 7-10 last season and traded the first overall pick to the Carolina Panthers, who received Bryce Young last year. They are also scheduled to pick at No. 9 because they had a 2-15 record in 2023.
Williams came on stage after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called his name. The 21-year-old gave the iconic Goodell hug even though he had back surgery just a few weeks ago.
After clicking picks with the jubilant Bears fans who traveled a long way from Chicago to Detroit, Williams went to meet his mother. Accompanying her was Williams’ rumored girlfriend, Alina Thyregod.
The blonde beauty dressed up for the occasion in a shimmering dress. As the cameras followed Williams getting close to Thyregod, everyone must have thought that he would give a smooch. However, to the surprise of many, he kissed her neck.
Who is Caleb Williams’ new girlfriend, Alina Thyregod?
Not much is known about Williams’ new girlfriend. However, she is very prominent on social media. Thyregod made a name for herself on TikTok, where she has more than 18.5 million posts. She also has a budding Instagram account, which is private.
Thyregod grew up in Maryland, DC, close to Williams. So they may have known each other for a while. The pair and Williams’ mother were spotted leaving their hotel to attend the draft premises.
It’s happy days for the Chicago Bears, who not only signed Williams but also bagged Washington speedster Rome Odunze as the 9th overall pick. Incidentally, they have been practicing together for the last few days, hinting that Poles would make the move even though Williams wanted his former high school teammate Olu Fashanu who signed for the New York Jets.
