It’s been a rough 2 weeks for the top pick in this year’s NFL draft class. Caleb Williams has not been able to back up his talk of having an immediate impact on the Chicago Bears. The quarterback struggled in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans and Week 2 was worse as Chicago fell short to the Houston Texans.
His performance against the Texans was worse. The quarterback threw 2 interceptions and had 174 yards. He has yet to throw for a touchdown in the NFL. Caleb Williams took full accountability for his mistakes and has assured fans that they will not be repeated as the Chicago Bears gear up to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.
Obviously, I had the two stupid mistakes that won't happen again. But I think rhythm, pass game, getting the ball to receivers, I think I got better with getting the ball out of my hands, trying to stay in the right range of timing, the offensive linemen, myself, and the routes, I think those are the few spots I've gotten better at.Caleb Williams stated following the tough loss to the Texans on Sunday night
While it is too early to hit the panic button on Caleb Williams, the quarterback is showing good leadership skills by holding himself accountable.

Caleb Williams is not entirely to blame for the failure of the Bears this season
Chicago is 1-1 on the season, it’s not a bad position to be in. However, considering the team’s schedule and how the offense has functioned so far, if Williams continues to play this way, they might be in trouble. Realistically, he is not the cause of the problem.
Yes, he hasn’t played well but merely providing a quarterback with wide receivers does not solve all the offense’s problems. The offensive line behind whom he is playing needs to improve. In two games, he has been sacked seven times, the most in comparison to his peers.
As per Next Gen Stats, the quarterback was blitzed 20 times in situations where he was looking to pass and faced pressure 36 out of 37 times he dropped back to pass the ball. If the Chicago Bears expect Caleb Williams to be the solution to all of their problems, they must first provide a structure for him to operate within. This was the same issue that Justin Fields faced during his tenure in Chicago.
He could not find enough time to analyze the field and throw because that O-line was not the best. The moment he leaves Chi-town and becomes the starter on a different team, he leads them to two consecutive victories. The season has just begun and Caleb Williams will take his time to get accustomed to the NFL’s pace.
