Aaron Boone is once again under extreme backlash from the fans. On Friday, the New York Yankees lost their 5th straight game, as their crosstown rivals, the New York Mets, won Game 1 of the Subway Series with a 6-5 score line.

The Yankees have not been in great form in recent weeks. Since their 3-game series sweep of the Kansas City Royals in mid-June, things have gone downhill for the Bronx Bombers.

They went on a six-game losing streak and were swept by the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Angels. Before their game against the Mets, the team suffered a historic sweep at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Canadian outfit swept the Yankees in a 4-game series and took over possession of first spot in the American League East Division. Following this result, the Yanks were left with a 49-38 record. They were 42-25 after sweeping the Royals.

In the game against the Mets, they did start strong. Back-to-back home runs from Jasson Dominguez and Aaron Judge in the first inning gave them a 2-0 lead. The Mets were able to find their way back, though, as Juan Soto, the former Yankees star, crushed a 2-run shot in the bottom of the first inning.

The two teams kept on exchanging blows as the lead kept on changing. The key moment of the game came in the bottom of the 7th inning with Luke Weaver on the mound and the Mets trailing 5-4. The pitcher, who had just returned from injury, gave up a 2-run home run to Jeff McNeil, which turned the game on its head once again.

The Yankees were unable to mount another comeback and ended up losing the game 6-5, and lost for the 5th consecutive game. This is now their 2nd 5-game losing streak in their last 20 games. In comparison to last year, they did not have any such run run in 2024.

Fans blasts Aaron Boone as Yankees lose again

While the fans on social media were already upset with the 4-game series at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Yanks losing to the Mets in the first game of the Subway Series triggered some more wild reactions regarding Boone.

Users on X called for his firing once again. Many demanded that the team make a change in their leadership, while some slammed the team management. One user wildly wrote, “What does it take to fire this bafoon?” while expressing their anger.

Apart from Boone’s firing, the fans also raised eyebrows regarding the role of General Manager Brian Cashman.

Aaron Boone expressed confidence that Yankees are the best team in the league before game against Mets

The New York Yankees lost the top spot in the American League East after getting swept by the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. Despite the dip in form, manager Aaron Boone expressed confidence in the team and expressed that they are the “best team” in the league.

In the press conference before the game against the Mets, Boone was asked by the reporters whether he still thought that the team was the best in the league. The manager would nod his head, but did mention that they are not a “complete” team at the moment.

I do believe that, but we’re not that right now. We’re not a complete team, and we’ve got a long way to go in this thing, but I feel like we’ve got the makings of a special group.

The Yankees are now 2 games behind the Blue Jays as their rivals claimed a walk-off win against the LA Angels. Meanwhile, the loss of the Tampa Bay Rays against the Minnesota Twins kept the Yanks on terms with them with a 48-40 record.
