Cam Newton was shocked to see the Las Vegas Raiders make fun of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The same Mahomes whom they always struggle to beat.
Newton, who led the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl 50, had much to say about the Raiders rookie Trey Taylor fooling around at the training camp instead of focusing on training. He criticized Taylor for bringing a Kermit the Frog plushie, mimicking Mahomes.
Training camp isn't a playground. Patrick Mahomes has achieved so much already. I don't get why this rookie thinks he can get away with this kind of stunt. Who is he to be making jokes about a Super Bowl MVP?Cam Newton ranted on the latest episode of his 4th and 1 podcast
Newton’s co-host ‘Peggy’ retorted about not recognizing Taylor. He interjected that Taylor’s only starting his career in the NFL while Mahomes was a three-time Super Bowl Champion and multiple MVPs.
No disrespect, but [Patrick] Mahomesis a well-known star. [Trey] Taylor is still making his way in the NFL. It's puzzling why he'd choose to target someone with Mahomes' stature.Peggy told Newton
There’s a gulf of experience between Mahomes and Taylor. The 28-year-old once again became the No. 1 QB on the NFL’s Top 100 players list for the second consecutive year while Taylor’s only starting out.
Cam Newton wasn’t impressed by Patrick Mahomes’ reaction to the Raiders prank
Following the prank pulled by Taylor, the media asked Mahomes if he was angry about the entire ordeal. The 6-time Pro Bowler did not appear angry and casually claimed that the Chiefs would take care of it on the field.

Newton saw the clip and felt disappointed with Mahomes’ reply. He wanted to see some passion and a fiery response.
Mahomes has to keep it professional, but if it were up to me, I'd ask, 'Who do you think you are?'Cam Newton said
Later, head coach Andy Reid took a cheeky dig at the Raiders, highlighting that the Chiefs don’t play with dolls in camp.
The Raiders had to respond. When asked if they had taken any actions against Taylor, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce gave an ambiguous response.
It’s over with. We nipped it in the bud.Antonio Pierce said per Yahoo Sports
The Raiders selected Taylor (safety) in the 7th round of the 2024 draft. He played for the Air Force Falcons and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, awarded to the best defensive back in college.
