The Dallas Cowboys have a golden opportunity to redeem themselves before their fans’ eyes, especially after Derrick Henry‘s fiasco. Myles Garrett, the star defensive end of the Cleveland Browns, is available for trade and though his team is looking for a shiny offer, the silver line is that Garrett is interested and Cam Newton feels he could be exactly what the team needs for the Super Bowl.

The former Carolina Panthers quarterback has sparked debate by suggesting that the Cowboys should go after the four-time All-Pro defensive end to dramatically enhance their chances of becoming a real Super Bowl contender next season– something they keep on promising to the team but failing repeatedly.

Interestingly, Dallas linebacker Micah Parsons has also declared a bold sacrifice to convince his team to seek Garrett, who wants a Super Bowl title and that’s why requested the trade. Given, that the three-time Pro Bowler has become eligible for an extension, he’s willing to take a cut if it means having Garrett on the roster to highlight his significance.

Could Myles Garrett be the missing piece for Dallas’ Super Bowl contention?

Since joining the world of broadcasting, Newton has been known for his bold opinions, and this time, it seemed to have shocked the entire panel of ESPN’s First Take, as they jokingly accused him of being under the influence for saying it. While discussing the surprising news of the Browns seeking a trade deal for Garrett, Newton mentioned Jerry Jones’ Cowboys as his potential destination

“Dallas Cowboys,” said Newton, naming the third time besides New York Jets and Houston Texans as potential landing places for Myles Garrett, to which his colleague Shannon Sharpe said, “You’re on drugs.”

“Because, hold on! I cannot make my point. Don’t attack me,” exclaimed Newton as the crowd started booing at his suggestion.

I want to see two dominant players on each side’s situation. I want to see what Micah Parsons can do with a little help on the other side… That’s all I am saying. Is it making sense? I just wanna see what I wanna see… I just wanna see a dynamic rush duo, that’s all.

The ESPN analyst’s rationale centers on the idea that a dominant pass rush duo, featuring both Parsons and Garrett, could significantly improve the Cowboys’ defense. By drawing attention and pressure, the duo could create more opportunities for sacks and turnovers for their opponents, while exploiting mismatches.
