It appears former NFL star Cam Newton didn’t like being mistaken for someone else. When a fan misunderstood him for a prominent rapper, his pissed-off reaction was caught live on camera and has gone viral on the internet.
The former Carolina Panthers quarterback takes great pride in his unique talent as a signal caller but when a fan mistakenly called him by the name of the famous entrepreneur and rapper Jay-Z, he genuinely seemed affronted. It happened while the former quarterback was making his way into an airport and a man repeatedly kept calling him, “Jay-Z, bro?”
Newton finally paused for a brief moment, giving a death stare to the fan, and said, “Get the f**k outta here” before walking away. Although the man was making a joke, he didn’t expect the former NFL star to react in such an offensive manner.
NFL insider Dov Kleiman shared the video of the incident on social media, where Newton gave a death stare to a man, who excitingly misunderstood him for the hip-hop mogul.
Even after leaving the NFL, Newton is counted among the prominent faces in the league. He is also known as one of the most style-savvy athletes in the history of the NFL and now, like many former players, runs a podcast talking about a wide range of topics.
Cam Newton’s high praise for Lamar Jackson
The former Carolina Panthers star has been quite in the news lately over denying to call himself the ‘greatest’ dual-threat quarterback to ever play in the league and instead bestowing the title to the Baltimore Ravens star, Lamar Jackson.
Newton appreciated the reigning NFL MVP for his impressive speed and claimed he often tends to make big plays. He also highlighted that Jackson has a special and unique talent for the position of a dual-threat signal-caller.
It was unlikely for Newton to not give himself such a title and acknowledge another player of today’s era capable of surpassing Newton in speed. He even claimed Jackson has the speed that he never had while labeling the quarterback as an ‘electric’ player.
