Jerry Jones‘ Dallas Cowboys have two distinct features. On one hand, Dak Prescott and his offense are lighting up the league. On the other hand, the defense is giving up more points than what the offense scores.
In any form of sport, that is a recipe for disaster. The billionaire owner is aware that the defense has deteriorated ever since he traded away star pass rusher Micah Parsons, but does not want to openly acknowledge it.
As prideful as the man that he is, his recent comments about the team have also raised questions about his motivation to fix what can be fixed. With the trade deadline almost over, former MVP Cam Newton decided to issue a warning.
Do not waste Dak Prescott’s best years. You have 24 hours to make a decision. Jerry Jones, you’ve got 24 hours to make a move.

His war cry in front of ardent Dallas Cowboys fans was met with applause. That seems to indicate that fans also believe the owner-cum-GM has not done what is needed to help the defensive side of the ball.

Jones improved the offense this past offseason, but seemingly lost touch with his vision for the defense, and the Cowboys’ 3-4-1 record proves that he had his priorities mixed up.
Jerry Jones has apparently made a trade
Before Week 9’s Monday Night Football clash against the Arizona Cardinals, it was the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens who made waves, trading for pass rushers to help their defense.
With the clock ticking, time is running out on the Dallas Cowboys to save their defense. A few minutes before the game, FOX4’s Jeff Klob caught up with the 83-year-old and asked him about a trade rumor.
I feel as good as you can feel since we don’t know until tomorrow what our details are.
Jerry Jones replied
This answer points to a possible trade being agreed upon in principle. However, any moves need to be ratified by the league office, and that could explain why Jerry Jones was not willing to divulge details.

If indeed the Cowboys do bring in a player or two, it could positively impact the defense. At this point in time, the franchise needs to win almost every game if they are to make the playoffs.
Troy Aikman not sure one player can improve Cowboys’ defense
Once Jerry Jones seemingly confirmed that a trade was in the works, it piqued everyone’s interest. When Troy Aikman joined the crew of Monday Night Countdown, Jason Kelce asked the Hall of Famer if one player could change his former team’s defense.

No. No… I don’t believe so. Do I believe Micah Parsons would have made a difference, absolutely. Would that change the record that much, I don’t know. He is a difference maker, but those guys aren’t typically available. So, I don’t know if they can bring in somebody like him.
Troy Aikman replied
.@TroyAikman doesn't believe the Cowboys are one defensive player away from being a "competitive football team." 😅

The 3-time Super Bowl-winning QB does not believe whatever move Jones makes will help the Cowboys this season. They need more than one impactful piece, which means there is a chance his former team could struggle to make the postseason.
