Cam Newton opens up on the post-NFL challenges as he struggles to provide for his 8 kids

A decade earlier, Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers were the team to beat in the NFL. The quarterback was feared by defenses and there was none like him. A QB who can throw the ball and run, he was an improved version of Michael Vick and he was perceived to be a Hall of Famer when he decided to end his career.
However, fate had different plans for Cam Newton. The Carolina Panthers cut him shortly after because they lost confidence in his ability to stay healthy. Eventually, he went from an NFL MVP to a backup quarterback, and out-of-a-job in a matter of years. Nobody had expected his career to turn out the way that it did and the once-wealthy quarterback now has to fend for his eight children by pursuing alternative avenues.
Newton recently appeared on Special Forces, the show that airs on FOX wherein a person gets a chance to step into the shoes of the bravest soldiers. During the show, in one of the takes, he opened up and got real about his situation.
I’m going into a different phase of my life that requires a different form of myself. Being in the NFL everyone knows that there is a large sum of money that comes to you in a short span of time, and being away from the game for three years, those cheques don’t come in the same. I got 8 kids. It hurts me knowing that I can’t provide like I once did. It hurts thinking that, ‘I’m Superman’ but in reality I’m just a man.

He has never opened up about his financial struggles as he did on the show. While Newton is in a position to make ends meet and provide for his family, a man’s lifestyle changes significantly when he stops getting cheques from the NFL.
Cam Newton has eight children with three women
The former NFL star has four children with his ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor. His sons Chosen Sebastian, Camidas Swain, and Cashmere Saint, and daughter Sovereign-Dior Cabella. He helps raise her eldest daughter Shakira too. Newton has two sons with photographer LaReina Shaw, Caesar and Jaden from his old relationship.
He has one daughter with his girlfriend Jasmin Brown whom he began dating in 2022. To his credit, he takes responsibility for being a father and provides for his children. There is a prominent quote that goes “A poor man that becomes rich can go back to being poor but a rich man who has never experienced poverty cannot tolerate that lifestyle.”
Similarly, Cam Newton was living his best life a decade ago and today, he finds himself in an unfavorable position. He became famous for his unconventional fashion choices which are no doubt expensive but today, he can no longer sustain such an expensive lifestyle.
Fortunately for him, he has become a part of the new media crew. He is a regular feature on ESPN’s First Take, hosts his popular podcast, and takes fan requests frequently.
