Since the season started, Cam Taylor-Britt’s name has trended more about trash-talking rather than his on-field performance. Despite three back-to-back losses, the Cincinnati Bengals’ cornerback is yet to be humbled as he continues with his pre-game trash-talking.

Ahead of week 3’s matchup against the Washington Commanders, he fired some brutal shots at Kliff Kingsbury’s offense by comparing it to college offense, by taunting they have a “nice college offense.” Taylor-Britt was speaking in regards to the similar offensive play that the Commanders have been implementing this season for their rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels to get comfortable.

The Commanders responded to the cornerback’s harsh comment with action rather than words as they outperformed the Bengals in a 38-33 feat. Many expected the Bengals’ cornerback to get humble following this defeat but his response again shocked everyone when he was asked if he regretted his brutal and disrespectful comment towards the Commanders and Kingsbury.

I don’t regret it. I didn’t mean anything malicious out of the comment. It was made bigger than it was. Yes, I can eat my words most definitely. We did take an L today.

Despite the oversimplified offense, Washington has won two out of their three games, whereas the Bengals led by an elite quarterback Joe Burrow formed a three-game losing streak

Zac Taylor criticizes Cam Taylor-Britt’s trash talk of opponents

While the cornerback maintains his stance on his disrespectful remark about week 3’s opponents, Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor has firmly dismissed the comments. He clarified that Taylor-Britt’s opinion about the Commanders is not shared by the rest of the team because these are not in line with the team values and sportsmanship which they abide by.

That’s not what we do,” said Taylor during a post-game press conference about the CB’s harsh remark.

We praise our own team. We praise the other team. We don’t take shots like that. That team hasn’t punted in two weeks. They've scored on every single possession the last two weeks.
Zac Taylor added

Even though Taylor-Britt claimed his harsh remarks towards the opponents were not ill-natured, it is putting the Bengals under a negative limelight especially because of the disappointing season they are having.

Not only his trash-talking is backfiring repeatedly, it’s not resonating with the team’s need right now. Instead of leading the team’s defense in his third season in the NFL, the cornerback is more focused on denouncing his opponents, which is ill-reflecting his sportsmanship.
