Recently, Cameron Grimes was released from WWE, ending his five-year tenure with the company. He released a video on social media in which he emotionally said goodbye to the WWE Universe. Days later, the 30-year-old made a shocking revelation about his departure in an interview.
While speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, Cameron Grimes revealed that a higher executive assured the safety of his job. However, just a few days later, he received a call from WWE, who informed him that he had lost his job. Furthermore, Grimes admitted that, at one point, people started to get annoyed when he used to ask for work.

In addition to that, The Technical Savage claimed that he got called up to the main roster in August last year. Although he waited for his opportunity there for six to eight months, nothing significant happened. He further added that WWE wanted to move along with his ‘To the Moon’ gimmick, which was quite successful in NXT.
I was told by a high executive on Friday that I would always have a job here. I would never have to worry about losing my job, after expressing my concerns. Five days later, they called and told me I did lose my job.Cameron Grimes via Busted Open Radio
After he got drafted to SmackDown in 2023, he kicked off a rivalry with Baron Corbin. In fact, Grimes shocked the WWE Universe when he defeated him in just six seconds. However, it all went downhill after that as he only appeared as an enhancement talent and lost many matches against stars like Bron Breakker. Only time will tell what the future holds for the 30-year-old star.
Cameron Grimes’ release came as a surprise for some in WWE
Just like most of the fans, many in WWE were also shocked by Cameron Grimes’ release from the company. The reason behind their belief was his impressive skill set and his devotion to showing up weekly on shows. They felt his wrestling skills were far superior to those of the other stars who were cut.

There was no doubt about his talent. The 30-year-old found success as he became the Million Dollar Champion and later held the North American title in NXT. Superstars like Jinder Mahal and Xia Li also parted ways with WWE. Similar to Grimes, fans were shocked by The Modern Day Maharaja’s release.
Grimes received support from WWE superstars after his release. Surprisingly, Logan Paul reached out and even had a conversation with him. WWE legend Matt Hardy also encouraged him by calling him a gifted wrestler who had many things lying in wait for him in the future.
