In Short
  • Cameron Jordan predicts the Saints will make a deep playoff run in 2026.
  • Fans and pundits label Jordan as "delusional" for his optimistic outlook.
  • The Saints finished last in the NFC South with a 6-11 record last season.

When a veteran like Cameron Jordan speaks, people tend to listen. But that doesn’t mean they have to agree with every word he says. Recently, the Saints legend put on his soothsayer hat and prophesied that the Saints will go on a deep playoff run in 2026.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Jordan expressed great confidence in Kenny Moore and his vision for the club. Despite finishing at the bottom of the NFC South with a 6-11 record in his first year in charge, Moore displayed level-headedness that Louisiana has not seen from a Saints head coach since the days of Sean Payton.

Of course, it is far too early to compare Moore to Payton, but Jordan believes that the Saints are in good hands. He even sees the Saints make a deep playoff run in the upcoming season.

I hope so (going into playoffs). Isn’t that the goal? Ain’t nobody going the whole offseason, thinking like, “Man, I hope we just win three games.” I’ll leave that to the Jets.

Cameron Jordan declared

He does make a good point. Every team starts with zero points in week one. But at the same time, the odds of winning the Super Bowl vary from one team to another. At present, the Saints have +10000 odds (eighth worst) of winning their second-ever championship; the only teams below them are the Panthers, Browns, Jets, Dolphins, Raiders, and Cardinals.

Pundits did not expect much from the Saints last year. Despite Moore’s pedigree as an elite signal caller, as evident from his Super Bowl win with the Eagles the year prior, the Saints were predicted to win fewer than five games.

That was mostly down to the quarterback situation. With Derek Carr announcing a shock retirement, Moore turned to second-year QB Spencer Rattler, bypassing rookie Tyler Shough. Rattler made some inspiring plays, but ultimately conceded the QB1 job to Shough.

In 9 starts, Shough threw for 2384 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions on 221 completions (67.6%). He further rushed for 186 yards and added 3 touchdowns on the ground. The Louisville graduate went 5-4 and won over the Saints fans.

According to Pro Football Reference, Shough received 5 first-place votes, 168.0 points, and finished second in the voting for the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year award, behind the Panthers WR, Tetairoa McMillan (41 first-place votes).

I think with him [Tyler Shough], there could be a bright future, and hopefully he can continue to build upon that process that we showed last year.

Shough showed that he can handle the brutal environment of the NFL, but that doesn’t mean the Saints are ready to challenge their rivals in the South just yet. Social media had a lot to say on this.

Before plunging into the new season, the Saints have to take care of player contracts or risk losing a few key members. Among them is, of course, Jordan, who had 47 combined tackles and 10.5 sacks in 2025 (best since 2021). The 36-year-old has spent his entire NFL career in the Death Valley, and it is fitting for him to retire a one-club man.
