Cameron Young ran away with the Cadillac Championship on Sunday as he claimed his 3rd PGA Tour victory. Following his triumph, he hailed U.S. President Donald Trump and called him a “very interesting man.”
The 2026 Cadillac Championship was hosted at the Trump Doral Course in Miami. This was the best time since 2016 that this course, owned by President Trump, was hosting an official PGA Tour event.
Young, who has been in fine form this season, fired a score of 64 in the opening round and took a 1-shot lead. A score of 67 and 70 in the second and third rounds, respectively, put him in a comfortable position.
On the second hole in the final round, he called a penalty on himself as his ball moved slightly after he addressed it. He was handed a one-stroke penalty for this. Despite this setback, he was able to save par on this hole.

Trump, who arrived at the course during the final round, sent a celebratory thumbs-up to Young as he clinched the victory. In the press conference, the golfer spoke about his meeting with the U.S. President and expressed his gratitude to play in front of him.
It’s very unique. He’s nothing if not a very, very interesting man. He’s very powerful, and it’s an honor to get to play in front of him. Hugely grateful to him and his family and his organization that has these beautiful properties and allows us to come and play great golf tournaments on them.

This was Young’s 2nd win of the season, having won The Players Championship in March. Following a late slip-up from Ludvig Aberg, the American golfer edged out Matt Fitzpatrick by one stroke to claim a historic win at TPC Sawgrass.
Last month, he was in the final group alongside Rory McIlroy at the Masters Tournament in the final round. He eventually finished T3 as McIlroy repeated as champion.
