Leon Edwards had plans to beat Sean Brady at UFC London and move on to fight Belal Muhammad for the welterweight title. However, his plans were ruined after the former champion got dominated by Brady, and lost the bout via a fourth-round submission. While fans are assuming a massive downfall, there is still a chance for the UK native to make a comeback.

In his last outing, Edwards got mentally and physically dominated by Muhammad, leading to his championship loss. The same thing happened last night, and Brady made it look easier this time. After back-to-back losses, fans have now lost their trust in Edwards. However, UK’s UFC legend, Michael Bisping, believes there is still a chance for a comeback.

I still see a world where Leon Edwards could potentially be in the title mix again. Granted, after tonight, he is gonna need at least three wins. But he’s gonna start getting some wins and finishing people, if those conversations are gonna start again.

The UFC welterweight division is stacked with absolute killers, especially wrestlers who are desperate for their title opportunity. Currently, Muhammad is scheduled to defend his title against Jack Della Maddalena. After that, Shavkat Rakhmonov might be next in line. The division also includes tough challenges such as Ian Garry and Joaquin Buckley, who are all tough challenges for Edwards.

However, ‘Rocky’ is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the division, and has huge experience in being part of pressure fights. At the age of 33, there are doubts about his temperament. Nevertheless, the UK fighter definitely has a chance to come back. However, in order to do that, he needs to stop making the same mistakes over and over again.

Leon Edwards’ lack of focus cost him at UFC London

Ahead of UFC London, Leon Edwards looked extremely confident, nearly dismissing Sean Brady’s credentials. He seemed to be looking past the American, aiming for Belal Muhammad by talking trash about the champion. Meanwhile, Brady entered the fight on a two-fight win streak, and remained highly motivated to make a statement in the division.

Ahead of the fight, Brady noticed Edward’s lack of focus and asked him to be careful. As expected, the Philly native dismantled the former champion on the feet, before taking him down to the ground. Following the loss, Edwards was mad and didn’t show sportsmanship towards Brady.

He was obviously upset and tried to be cool. Even during the week, we did a face off, he was super weird. He was just super salty….He fu***d up. I’m pretty sure he knew he fu** up. That was a freebie for me.

With the win, Brady has now opened up his chances to fight for the title soon. If things go right, it would be his second fight against Muhammad after losing out the first bout via TKO. The Philly fighter has shown great promise, but winning the belt is not an easy task at all.

Top UFC champions who reclaimed their title

Being a champion and defending it is extremely incredible in a promotion like the UFC. However, losing the belt and then coming back and reclaiming the title is even harder. This requires incredible mental toughness. Surprisingly, over the years, only some fighters have done that in UFC.

Randy Couture became a three-time UFC heavyweight champion, winning back the belt twice. Heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic did the same against Daniel Cormier at UFC UFC 241, bouncing back from a KO loss. Georges St-Pierre lost to Matt Serra, but reclaimed his welterweight title in their rematch, making a legendary comeback.

Women’s UFC pioneer Amanda Nunes regained her bantamweight belt after losing to Julianna Pena. All these instances are from champions who have an elite mindset, something that the fan base think Leon Edwards lack. Nevertheless, in the fight business, anything can happen and it won’t be surprising to see him back as a title contender soon.
