A snippet from Czechia-Canada game (via Sportsnet)
It seems Team Canada has found a new arch-nemesis at the World Juniors Championship. For the second year in a row, they have been eliminated from this competition by Team Czechia.
A few days ago, the team suffered a shocking defeat to Latvia in overtime. Despite that loss, the hosts would qualify for the knockouts round and were aiming to take back the gold medal from the United States.
The hosts did not have a good start and conceded within a minute of the game. Petr Syrkora tapped the puck in from a close range to give his team a 1-0 lead in the game. Though Canada made it 1-1 for a brief moment in the first period, the ended the period 3-1 down as goals from Jakub Stancl and Eduard Sale.
With the crowd backing them, Canada would show their fighting spirit and found their way back into the game. A powerplay goal Porter Martone near the end of the second period made it 3-2. In the final period, they level things up at 3-3 as Bradley Nadeau whacked in a loose puck in the crease.
As the game seemed to be heading to overtime, Czechia went on to stun Canada again. They scored a powerplay goal from Adam Jecho with 39 seconds remaining on the clock. This was enough for the European nation to advance to the semi finals and knock out Canada for a second year running.
After the game, Canada’s coach Dave Cameron said that they created enough chances but they just did not went in.
We weren’t scoring, and scoring generates your emotion… We were creating chances. Could you create more? Of course you could. If you look at the analytics, 5-on-5, we created enough chances to win the games, they just didn’t go in. That’s the nature of the game tonight.

Maybe this will wake Hockey Canada up. Take the best players. Take a good coach. And oh. Maybe practice?

What a disgrace. What happened to all of the great Québécois players of yore? Especially the great goalies? Hockey Canada needs to redouble its efforts.

Fire everyone involved with putting this team together, and don’t let Dave Cameron near a team Canada bench again.

Gibson might be the worst d man I've ever seen on a national team. Figures maybe the worst coach would have him out there half the game

Utter disgrace of a coach and a team. Crap players no discipline no talent.
