Besides his tough-love coaching approach for the Colorado Buffaloes, Deion Sanders is renowned for his rugged way of living on expansive rural land. While navigating through Texas property, Coach Prime shared an intriguing explanation for why he carries a firearm in his house.
Despite the sensitive nature of gun ownership in America, Sanders emphasized that he does not carry a gun for show or as a hobby. He laid down compelling reasons why carrying a 12-gauge shotgun is more of a necessity, particularly because he enjoys hunting and comes across a variety of wild animals in Texas, including snakes, bears, coyotes, etc.
Although it’s a given that a 12-gauge shotgun is mainly for short-gun hunting, Coach Prime clarified that he only uses his gun for hunting and no other purpose.

Being surrounded by wild animals like coyotes, wild hogs, and water moccasins, it’s essential to ensure one’s safety as these wild animals can be hostile and may sometimes directly threaten the property and those living in it.
Deion Sanders’ vision takes shape as team eyes Big 12 contention
Coming to the football field, after a year of struggle and adjustments, Coach Prime finally gave results under his reign in Colordoa by coaching the team to clinch a bowl berth in his second year. With two of its players set to be among the top ten draft picks of the 2025 NFL Draft, Colorado is on its way to becoming Big 12 contenders next month.
This season also didn’t start quite well for them but quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver Travis Hunter came through with the offense and led the team to six consecutive victories, qualifying for the Bowl game.
“That’s the beginning, but we are thankful and appreciative that the hard work is going noticed,” said head coach Deion, while asserting the Buffs still have a long way to go ahead.
When asked about the preparations, Deion laid down his plans of focusing on one game at a time rather than fantasizing about a College Football Playoff run. For now, they are heading for a game against Texas Tech in the Big 12 conference, which marks their return to the conference since their re-entry into the league.
