Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia is now at our doorstep. The fight is set to happen on May 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight is also significant since they will be duking it out on Cinco de Mayo. Subsequently, Munguia is the underdog in the fight, and Saul appears to be quite confident about his victory.
Alvarez certainly has the advantage in terms of technical knowledge, boxing IQ, and experience. However, Munguia has the advantage in terms of youth, agility, and the hunger to emerge victorious. In addition, Alvarez’s opponent also has an impressive undefeated record of 43-0 with 34 victories via knockout. However, Munguia’s record doesn’t seem to have fazed Alvarez at all, who boldly predicted his knockout victory during a recent press conference.
Winning by knockout is always wonderful, right? So I think I’m going to win by knockout before the eighth round.Canelo Alvarez via DAZN

Canelo Alvarez also mentioned how it does not matter if Munguia is older or younger because he is a fighter at a different level. Furthermore, he spoke about the significance of the fight and how two Mexicans will be fighting for the undisputed title.
Alvarez also acknowledged his opponent and stated that he deserved respect. Simultaneously, while Saul is confident about winning, so is Munguia. As such, the young boxer predicted that it would be a great fight and even promised that it would be fireworks inside the ring.
Munguia doesn’t think Alvarez’s performance has declined
Saul has had an illustrious and long boxing career and has remained a top pound-for-pound boxer. However, many people, like Oscar De La Hoya, believe that Alvarez has begun to show signs of decline inside the ring. However, his fighter, Munguia, does not seem to agree with this notion.

De La Hoya had repeatedly claimed that Alvarez had gone through several surgeries and was beyond his prime. Hence, he predicted that his fighter would win and dethrone Alvarez the same way he did with Julio Cesar Chavez back in 1996. However, when Munguia was asked about this, he didn’t seem to agree with this notion.
I wouldn't agree with what you said, certainly about him being in decline.Jaime Munguia via DAZN
Munguia remarked how he saw Alvarez’s fighting ability when he last fought Jermell Charlo. Furthermore, he predicted that Alvarez has always had big fights and has managed to deliver them. Munguia also mentioned that he is prepared to face Saul.
In case you missed it!
