The Arizona Cardinals had one foot in the playoff contention a few weeks ago. Fast forward to Week 16, The Cardinals found themselves out of the race after a humbling loss to the Carolina Panthers in overtime. Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams are the only teams left in the NFC West.

Carolina Panthers second-year quarterback Bryce Young rebounded impressively from a four-turnover game in Week 15. The former No. 1 overall pick delivered a turnover-free performance against the Cardinals, contributing three touchdowns, including a 23-yard rushing score and a flawless touchdown pass to wide receiver David Moore.

The Arizona Cardinals‘ tight end Trey McBride, a standout performer this season, had a frustrating outing in Sunday’s overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers. A video circulating on social media captured McBride seemingly taking shots at both the Panthers and his team while heading to the locker room.

“Man those guys sold so f***ing hard. We are sorry as f**k.”

Regarded as one of the league’s top young tight ends, he has tallied 92 catches for 958 yards this year, showcasing his talent despite the team’s struggles. McBride’s postgame comments and the Cardinals’ elimination mark a disappointing chapter for a team that once had playoff aspirations but now faces questions about its future direction.

McBride’s frustration was clear after the game. Despite the Cardinals fighting back from a 20-3 deficit to force overtime, they ultimately fell short. For McBride, the loss was about more than just missing the playoffs; it highlighted the team’s consistent struggle to close out games— a pattern that has defined their season.

Trey McBride had a dismal outing despite Kyler Murray’s promise five days ago

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is one of the team’s top offensive weapons. They had an uncharacteristically quiet performance in Sunday’s overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers. McBride managed only 20 receiving yards and targeted just four times—both season lows for the star tight end.

The subdued outing was unexpected, as McBride entered the game with a streak of four consecutive contests featuring double-digit targets. His reduced involvement in the offense stood out even more given quarterback Kyler Murray’s pregame pledge to get McBride into the end zone.

“[Trey McBride] will touch the endzone (sic) soon, I promise..,” earlier this week, Murray shared a post on Instagram.

Despite the setback, McBride remains a key figure for Arizona, boasting an impressive 92 catches for 958 yards this season. Through 14 games played, McBride has tallied career highs in both receiving yards (958) and catches (92).

Despite a breakout season from McBride, the third-year tight end has yet to record a receiving touchdown this season. Ironically, McBride does have a rushing touchdown this year on just one carry — the only rushing attempt of his career so far
