NASCAR legend Carl Edwards was inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025 recently. During the media tour ahead of the induction, the ex-JGR driver opened up about his career and the evolution of the sport eight years after his retirement. He also discussed about the personals around the sport that impressed him the most during this period.

He highlighted the impact Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin has had in the sport. Since Edwards retirement Hamlin has become a team owner with 23XI Racing, a podcaster and one of the most consistent championship contenders. Edwards is really impressed with the success the veteran has had alongside Dave Rogers at 23XI.

I don’t pay a ton of attention but a couple of people have really stood out to me. I mean, Dave Rogers and Denny Hamlin and all the stuff they’re doing is really interesting to me, how much success they’re having.

He went on to point out that the has heard a lot from the NASCAR community about how hard Hamlin is working behind the scenes. He admitted that he finds it really nice to see a veteran like him pulling of such huge success.

I’ve heard some behind-the-scenes stuff about how hard Denny’s working, how much that’s paying off, and that’s really neat to see a guy – I have to admit I’m an older guy now so I see somebody like that doing it, it’s fun to watch. You know, at that level.

Carl Edwards is impressed with Justin Marks as well

The ex-Xfinity Series champion also highlighted the impressive rise of Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks. Just like 23XI Racing, Trackhouse has also made massive investment in the sport and within a handful of years has become regular race win contenders.

Justin Marks at Trackhouse is someone who, the last five years or so, I’ve gotten to know him a little bit better as a friend and watch how he does things. I’d say that’s the person that stands out to me in the sport that really is just moving forward, he’s doing it the right way, he cares about the sport, he tries to do things right.

The ex-racer also highlighted that Marks is one of the few individuals associated with the sport that he is most in touch with and is happy it is like that way. Edwards seems to be really impressed with how the new team are making mark in the sport.
