Brazil suffered a shocking defeat to Paraguay in their latest CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier. Sadly enough, Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. has been at the receiving end of some serious criticism. In what was a lacklustre show from the entire Brazilian unit, the Selecao slumped down to their fourth defeat of the tournament, reducing them to the fifth spot with 10 points from eight matches.

In the absence of Neymar, Vinicius was the obvious favourite to spearhead the Brazilian attack. However, lack of discipline and coordination in the midfield led to an implosion in the Brazilian side, and as a result, the team came an unfortunate cropper. After being at the receiving end of some serious flak, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti stood by Vinicius’ side, underlining the fact that the youngster has been an asset to Los Blancos.

I don’t want to go into his problems in Brazil but what I see is a more general issue because they are not managing to bring out their best version as a group. Here we are delighted with Vinicius because although he is not at his best right now, no one can forget that with Vini we have been able to win two Champions League titles.
Carlo Ancelotti said in a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s clash against Real Sociedad

Vinicius Jr. did get himself on the scoresheet for Real Madrid against Real Sociedad with the opener of the game as he stepped up from the spot. Kylian Mbappe scored the second goal of the day for Los Blancos, and that too arrived from the dreaded spot. Madrid will be locking horns with VfB Stuttgart as they kickstart their latest campaign in the UEFA Champions League.

A glance at the ongoing woes of Brazil

Brazil continued to drift in and out of form without their key striker, Neymar Jr., who has been ruled out at least until November due to his persisting ACL injury. Their latest defeat against Paraguay was an added daub of woes as they dropped by a solitary position in the points table of the CONMEBOL qualifiers.

They faced the axe from the Copa America after a defeat against Uruguay in the qualifiers, intensifying the frown on the fans’ faces. Despite wins against Mexico and Ecuador, the once most dominant team in the world has failed to impress their fans and management in recent times.

Somehow, the diametric inconsistency has been one of the major problems that the Brazil team has failed to address. In the next international break, they will be up against Chile and Peru in the same week, where they will try and log the full six points from the two games.
