Carlos Alcaraz is a two-time Indian Wells winner and will be entering the tournament as a two-time defending champion. If he completes a three-peat, he will join Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer on an elite list.
Only Federer and Djokovic have won three Indian Wells on the trot, plus they are the joint record holders with five titles in the ATP 1000 Masters event. As Rafael Nadal retired with three Indian Wells trophies, Alcaraz could become the first Spanish man to complete a three-peat in the tournament in California.
I think the last two years have shown how comfortable I am there. Hopefully, this year it happens again. We’re going to try to do our best and prepare well these days, this week, to start the tournament strong, and hopefully, we can achieve that milestone of winning three consecutive times. So, let’s see this year.

The four-time Grand Slam champion beat current World No.6 Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the two back-to-back Indian Wells finals. The qualifying rounds of the tournament are underway and the main draw is scheduled to start on March 5.
Patrick Mouratoglou explains what Carlos Alcaraz does that is crazy
Naomi Osaka‘s coach Patrick Mouratoglou recently made his feelings known about Carlos Alcaraz‘s play style. Mouratoglou, who has also coached Serena Williams, compared the youngster with Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, calling the 21-year-old more fiery than the two members of the Big 3.

If you look at [Carlos] Alcaraz for example, he’s more of a puncher, but I think it’s very interesting too because yes, he can do so many different things and he does everything so well. He drop shots, he comes to the net, unbelievable power, unbelievable touch, he can return volley and he does all this in a match, that’s crazy.
Patrick Mouratoglou said during the Ultimate Tennis Showdown event in Guadalajara
Mouratoglou said something happens all the time whenever Alcaraz plays as he never finds the World No.3’s matches “boring“. The Frenchman, however, pointed out that one area of concern is his lack of consistency as Alcaraz clinched just four titles last year. He recently lost to Jiri Lehecka in the Qatar Open quarterfinals.
At Indian Wells, the Spaniard will be bidding to win his second title of the season, following the Rotterdam Open. The Murcia native will enter the tournament as the second seed but is the favorite to win the title ahead of top seed Alexander Zverev.
