It was all celebrations for Team Europe after two years of hiatus at the 2024 Laver Cup. Bjorn Borg‘s team managed to thump John McEnroe‘s Team World 13-11 to win their fourth title at the prestigious tournament.

And since it was a long-awaited win and came, despite Team Europe trailing 4-8 at the end of Day 2’s play, wild celebrations followed. Everyone from Carlos Alcaraz to Alexander Zverev and other members of Team Europe went bonkers.

In the video, it can be seen that Zverev started the celebrations as he sprayed champagne all over his teammates. Daniil Medvedev, Alcaraz, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Grigor Dimitrov, and others joined in and everyone ensured that their teammates were all drowned in champagne. However, when Medvedev found out that Tsitsipas was all clean, another round of champagne canons followed.

Bjorn Borg ends his Laver Cup stint on a high

This edition of the Laver Cup was special for both the captains, as they knew it was their last. Both Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe, wanted to finish on a high, but only one could win and it was the Swedish legend who nailed it.

Borg was emotional after going away from the tournament where he had worked for seven years. He thanked his rival and also recalled how he was unsure about what to say when Roger Federer had asked him to lead Team Europe eight years ago.

I’m gonna miss John a lot. Of course we’re gonna see each other… I remember when Roger called me and asked if I wanted to be captain for Team Europe. That was 8 years ago. I didn’t really know what to say. But I was happy to say yes. And he said John would be captain for Team World. John we’ve been having a good time. Even if you guys lost.
Bjorn Borg said after the title win in Berlin.

Borg won four titles for Team Europe. While for the first three, he had the legends of the game on his side, the former Swedish ace faced a big challenge coming into the 2024 Laver Cup with a relatively younger side. Also, having lost in the last two editions put that added baggage on Team Europe.

However, Borg efficiently led the young bloods to clinch a record fourth title. He was well aided by senior member Grigor Dimitrov who kept chipping in with suggestions during the matches.
