Carlos Alcaraz and Grigor Dimitrov turned coaches during the group stage match of the Laver Cup when Casper Ruud was taking on Francisco Cerundolo at the Uber Arena on September 20. Alcaraz, Dimitrov, and Ruud are representing Team Europe, which is captained by tennis legend Bjorn Borg

Unfortunately for Team Europe, Ruud ended up losing the match 6-4, 6-4. At one point during the match, when Ruud sat down, Dimitrov and Alcaraz started to give him advice, the video of which has been doing rounds on social media.

Dimitrov will also be playing singles on September 20 as he will be up against Alejandro Tabilo. Alcaraz on the other hand, will be playing doubles with Alexander Zverev. The team will face American duo Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton

Alcaraz will also be making his Laver Cup debut, while Zverev is featuring in the tournament for the fifth time. The Spaniard is playing in the tournament following his second-round loss at the US Open.

Casper Ruud says Novak Djokovic is the best of all time

Novak Djokovic is the only member of the Big 3 against whom Casper Ruud has won a match. The Norwegian, however, found Djokovic the most difficult opponent, explaining in an interview why he thinks the Serbian is the greatest of all time and found it “fantastic” to see the 24-time Grand Slam win his first gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Djokovic is a tough nut to crack and certainly deserves to be considered the best of all time. There is no doubt about everything he has won. I often say that it is not possible to ‘round off’ tennis like a video game when there is nothing else to achieve, but in terms of merits and tournament victories, Novak has won all the titles possible.
Casper Ruud told Eurosport Norway

Ruud has met Djokovic six times but was able to beat him just once, in the semifinal of the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters. On the other hand, the 25-year-old has faced Roger Federer once and lost the match. Ruud was also defeated by Rafael Nadal twice in their two meetings.

Djokovic is not playing in the Laver Cup but recently represented Serbia in the Davis Cup and also played in an exhibition event with Grigor Dimitrov. Federer retired in 2022, while Nadal announced a few days before the start of the tournament about his withdrawal.
