Andy Murray and Carlos Alcaraz are headlining the tennis field for their respective countries at the Paris Olympics. Murray is likely to compete only in doubles with Dan Evans, whereas Alcaraz is set to reunite with the legend Rafael Nadal and also compete for the Singles Gold.
On the eve of the Paris Olympics, Murray posted a wholesome photo with the four-time Grand Slam champion. The photograph was taken at the Olympic Village.

Murray’s Instagram post won the Internet for many tennis fans, including Alcaraz, who returned the compliment to the two-time Olympic Gold Medalist. The Spaniard went ahead of the Scottish legend in the Grand Slam race by winning his fourth Grand Slam at Wimbledon earlier this month.

Murray has confirmed that the Paris Olympics would be his last event before retirement. On the other hand, Alcaraz would have his first taste at an Olympic event since his breakthrough on the tour in 2022.
Carlos Alcaraz is the favorite at the Paris Olympics
Carlos Alcaraz‘s biggest storyline at the Paris Olympics is his double partnership with Rafael Nadal. Many consider this the most hyped doubles pairing since Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka, who won the Olympic gold in doubles at the 2008 Games.

However, the big question is: What about Alcaraz in singles? His chances for the gold in singles took a huge boost on Wednesday after World No.1 Jannik Sinner withdrew. Otherwise, he would have had a 50% chance to draw either the Italian or Novak Djokovic in the same bracket.
With Djokovic and Alcaraz now confirmed to be on opposite sides of the draw, the Spaniard would be feeling a lot more confident. After all, he is the current Roland Garros champion and has a doubles partner alongside him to guide him on how to make Philippe Chatrier Court a fortress.
An even more important factor is that Alcaraz has Djokovic’s number. Many tennis pundits consider the World No.3’s performance in the Wimbledon final against the Serbian to be the most complete of his career. He has a 2-1 head-to-head record against Djokovic in Grand Slam matches.
Although his lone defeat to Nole came in Paris, it was due to him pulling his hamstring at the start of the third set because of tension. Now, being relaxed and confident, he hopes to go all the way in both singles and doubles.
