Spanish tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz scripted history on Sunday evening as he beat Novak Djokovic in the 2024 Wimbledon final. The 21-year-old successfully defeated the Serbian ace in a second consecutive Wimbledon final. Alcaraz toppled the seven-time Wimbledon Champion in straight sets of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (4) to successfully defend his crown at the All-England Club and become the ninth man to defend his crown in the Open Era.

The Spaniard erred a little throughout the match as Alcaraz was equally good on serves, returns, volleys, and anything else that was required. He looked in a hurry to close the game as the Spaniard clinched the first set 6-2 in 41 minutes.

Novak Djokovic, for the fighter he is, did not let Carlos Alcaraz walk away with an easy win as the Spaniard would have liked. As soon as it seemed that Alcaraz would close the third set in his favor, Djokovic won two games on the trot and the set had to be decided in the tiebreak.

Djokovic started the tiebreak on a positive note but Alcaraz came back quickly to win two points back-to-back. Both players kept the intensity high and played some incredible volleys. However, Djokovic faltered, as he had been doing from the start of the match, a couple of times to gift his opponent a few points.

Alcaraz pounced on every opportunity and eventually claimed the tiebreak 7-4. With this, he once again denied the Serbian a chance to lift his eight Wimbledon title. Also, he got himself included in an elite list of players who have successfully defended their crown at the All-England Club.
