Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz continues to pile on accolades in his career despite only being 21. After winning two Grand Slam titles and a Masters 1000 this season, the Spaniard has added yet another milestone to his achievements.

Alcaraz has become the only tennis player to feature in the 2024 Sports Illustrated list of the 50 most influential sports figures. Although the former World No. 1 hasn’t hit the heights on the tennis court recently after an early loss at the US Open, he continues to make a strong presence off the court.

With the retirement of Rafael Nadal looming, Spanish tennis can rest easy knowing they have a new hero in the sport. Alcaraz has won four Grand Slam titles and five Masters 1000 tournaments in his career.

In 2022, Alcaraz became the youngest male player since Lleyton Hewitt in 2002 to finish the season as the World No. 1. He has already captured three of the four Grand Slam events in his career and hopes to become the youngest player to complete the Grand Slam collection next year at the Australian Open.

Carlos Alcaraz enjoys another sensational season in 2024

Carlos Alcaraz has continued his success from 2022 and 2023 by achieving major tennis accolades in 2024. The season began on a negative note as he lost in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open to Alexander Zverev.

However, the former World No. 1 regrouped by winning his first title of the season at Indian Wells, defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final. The clay court season started poorly, as Alcaraz had to withdraw from two of the three clay Masters 1000 events due to elbow surgery.

Despite this, Alcaraz returned to Roland Garros in prime form and won his third Grand Slam title in Paris. Shortly after, the Spaniard joined the ranks of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic by winning both the French Open and Wimbledon titles in the same year. Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in the Wimbledon final for the second consecutive time, bringing his Grand Slam total to four.

However, a setback came shortly after at the Paris Olympics, where Djokovic turned the tables on Alcaraz in the Olympic Singles Gold medal match. The Spaniard was seen in tears as he had to settle for a silver medal. That loss significantly impacted his hopes of regaining the World No. 1 ranking, as he exited in the opening round at Cincinnati and lasted only two rounds at the US Open.
