Stefanos Tsitsipas is in Doha for the ATP 500 Qatar Open and ahead of the tournament, he said that he would like to hire Carlos Alcaraz as his coach. He will bid to win his first title since the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters.

Alcaraz too is participating in the tournament and went past Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. Tsitsipas, during an interview with Vamos Show’s Lina Shock, was asked about which current ATP players he would like to add to his entourage.

Carlos Alcaraz. I would hire him.

Stefanos Tsitsipas said

The question followed after the Novak DjokovicAndy Murray partnership was mentioned. Murray, after retirement from tennis at the 2024 Paris Olympics, joined Djokovic’s team and under him, the 24-time Grand Slam champion reached the semifinal of the Australian Open.

Djokovic, however, had to call off the match he was playing with Alexander Zverev due to a hamstring injury. Murray and Djokovic will be working at least till Wimbledon.

Tsitsipas, who faced a straight-set defeat to Djokovic in the 2023 Australian Open final, suffered a four-set loss to Alex Michelsen in the first round of this year’s event at Melbourne Park. Following the Major event, he was knocked out by Mattia Bellucci in the Rotterdam Open quarterfinal. The two-time Grand Slam finalist is set to lock horns with Hamad Medjedovic in the first round of the Qatar Open.

I don’t know if I could be a good coach. But as an active player, I would probably choose, Felix. He’s a very serious guy. He has many faces. He is also an excellent player. So I’d pick him.

Carlos Alcaraz told Vamos Show’s Lina Shock

Alcaraz is currently coached by Juan Carlos Ferrero and Samuel Lopez. In the absence of Ferrero, the 21-year-old won the Qatar Open under Lopez after hiring the 55-year-old in December last year.

Alcaraz is chasing his second title of the season after the Rotterdam Open where he beat Alex de Minaur to clinch his first indoor hard-court title. Auger-Aliassime, who is set to face Quentin Halys in the Qatar Open first round, lifted his first title of the season with a three-set win over Aleksandar Kovacevic at the Open Occitanie.
