Carlos Alcaraz entered the French Open with high expectations, declaring he felt 100% fine. All eyes were on his performance, and he didn’t disappoint. He won his first round with ease and maintained the same momentum in the second and third rounds.

The Spaniard was up against Sebastian Korda in the third round. While the American tried his best to stay in the game, he had no reply to the blistering 68 mph forehands from the former World No.1. By beating Korda in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-3, Alcaraz cast aside any doubts about his confidence. He reiterated this in his post-game on-court interview.

I feel amazing. I feel great playing on this court. Obviously, I have great memories playing here. Great matches I’ve played before. I’m feeling better and better every match I play. The crowd was amazing. Every day it’s even better. It’s amazing to play in front of all of you. I’m excited to play in the 2nd week in Paris again. Hopefully, I’ll keep going

Alcaraz, who had struggled a little with his serve, was very solid in this outing. He won 73% of his first-serve points and 65% of his second-serve points to have the edge over the American. Backing those served up were his thunderous forehands, which were almost not returnable. Alcaraz is happy with the win and will move on to the fourth round of the French Open

In the final set of their match, Alcaraz had hit a running forehand cross-court which landed in the corner of the court. It was an impossible angle to hit, but Alcaraz did well to execute it. After the match, he credited his forehands.

Today was a more demanding match for me. At some point, I forget about everything and I hit the forehand normally, think during the whole match, I hit my forehand really well, with more intensity. In the second set tie-break I hit

Now, the Spaniard will take on the winner of the match between Ben Shelton and Felix Auger Aliassime. As rain played spoils once again, a few matches were forced to be suspended, one of them being Shelton’s.
