Carlos Alcaraz is oozing confidence after reaching the final in this Olympics debut. He hasn’t dropped a single set en route to the gold medal match at the Summer Games in Paris. In the semifinal, he dominated Canadian Felix Auger-Alliassime 6-1, 6-1 to set up a clash with either Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti.

In doing so, Alcaraz became the youngest male tennis player ever to reach the final of the Olympics. In his on-court interview with Alex Corretja, Alcaraz promised Spanish fans that he would bring home the coveted singles gold medal, an achievement that has eluded even Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

To the Spaniards who watch me on TV, tell them I am going to put on a show in the final and that I am going to give them what they want: the gold.

Carlos Alcaraz said

He will face the winner of the match between Novak Djokovic and Lorenzo Musetti, which is a rematch of the Wimbledon semifinal, on Sunday (August 4).

Carlos Alcaraz adds to his ever-growing list of ‘youngest ever’ records

After his triumph at the 2022 US Open, Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest-ever men’s World No.1 in tennis history, one of his greatest achievements yet. At just 19 years old, he ended that year as the youngest year-end No.1 as well.

Earlier that year, he also became the youngest player to win an ATP 500-level event in Rio after defeating Diego Schwartzman in the final. He had had an impressive start to his career, making an ATP main draw debut at the same tournament, at just 16 years old.

The Spaniard has accomplished unprecedented feats in the years that followed. With his win at Roland Garros this year, he overtook his compatriot and idol Rafael Nadal to become the youngest player to win a Grand Slam on all three surfaces. On August 2, he became the youngest male player to ever reach the Olympics final.
