Third seed Carlos Alcaraz took a leaf out of soccer star Jude Bellingham‘s book for his celebrations after beating Frances Tiafoe in the third-round win at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. He recreated the Englishman’s celebration of facing the crowd with his arms wide open after scoring a goal.
Alcaraz has never shied away from the fact that he’s a massive Real Madrid fan. With England currently taking part in the Euros and Bellingham being an important asset for the Three Lions, the Spaniard couldn’t resist imitating the Real Madrid midfielder’s celebration. He explained the reasons behind the same in his post-match interview.

No, I mean, I have huge respect for him. We are in London. He’s England. That why. I told him that a big win deserves a big celebration.
Carlos Alcaraz said
Both Alcaraz and Bellingham have already achieved a lot very early in their careers. The latter has won the Champions League and La Liga titles with Real Madrid, scoring over 20 goals for them. Meanwhile, the Spaniard has been the World No. 1 player and also has three Grand Slam titles to his name.
Carlos Alcaraz holds off Frances Tiafoe in a titanic tussle at Wimbledon
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz narrowly avoided a surprise defeat at the hands of American Frances Tiafoe in the third round. The Spaniard came through an intense five-set match to win 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-2 in front of an enthusiastic Wimbledon Centre Court crowd.

The contest lived up to the expectations after their previous encounter in the semifinals of the 2022 US Open, where Alcaraz emerged victorious in a five-set battle en route to claiming his first Grand Slam title. Tiafoe, who was once seeded as high as 10th at Wimbledon, has since dropped in the rankings and faced early exits in recent Grand Slam tournaments. However, he managed to dig deep and pose a tough challenge for Alcaraz at SW19.
After losing the opening set, the former World No. 1 regained control by winning the second set. He then faced resistance from Tiafoe, who won the third set with a single break of serve and came close to wrapping up the match in the tie-break in the fourth.
Alcaraz managed to regroup himself and dominated in the final set, breaking Tiafoe twice and sealing his victory with a stylish, trademark drop shot. He will next face either American Brandon Nakashima or French 16th seed Ugo Humbert.
