Will Carlos Alcaraz surpass Novak Djokovic by winning more than 24 Grand Slam titles? The Spaniard did not rule out the possibility of it as he dreams of breaking almost every tennis record while enjoying his time on the courts.
The 21-year-old, right after his French Open crown last month, etched his name in the record books again. He became the youngest player to win both the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year and is 4-0 in Grand Slam finals. When he was asked about his ultimate Grand Slam goal, Alcaraz said he was happy and proud of the work he did with his team and his main focus is to keep improving.
Keep growing up. Try to keep winning. That’s all that matters to me right now. I don’t know what my limit is. I don’t want to think about it. I just want to keep enjoying my moment. To keep dreaming. Let’s see if, at the end of my career, it’s going to be 25, 30, 15, 4… I don’t know.Carlos Alcaraz said at the press conference
Alcaraz denied Novak Djokovic his eighth Wimbledon crown by beating him easily in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(7-4) in a rematch of last year’s Wimbledon final. Djokovic, who injured his knee during the French Open, also played his first final of the season at the SW19.
Carlos Alcaraz aims for gold medal in Paris Olympics
Carlos Alcaraz will join 14-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The tennis matches will start from July 27 and Alcaraz is aiming to win on the Roland Garros courts for the second time in the same year.
Obviously, coming to the tournament, I am going to go for the title. I am going to go just thinking that I will be able to win it. That's my goal to bring a medal to my country, hopefully the gold medal.Carlos Alcaraz told Tennis Channel
The 22-time Grand Slam champion did not play at the Wimbledon to prepare himself for the Olympics. He has been dealing with form and fitness issues since last year and is yet to win a title. He even lost in the Roland Garros first round to register his only fourth defeat in the tournament. Alcaraz, on the other hand, is 33-6 for the season with three titles-the Wimbledon, French Open, and the Indian Wells.
