Carlos Alcaraz took the tennis court for the first time since his second-round exit at the 2024 US Open. Playing for Spain in the Davis Cup Finals Group Stage, Alcaraz took on Czech Republic’s Tomas Machac and produced a moment of magic when won a point with an outrageous shot.
During the second set, Alcaraz and Machac were in the middle of a great game. With the Spaniard leading 2-1 and in the fourth game, the two players were level at 40-40. Machac sent a great serve to the right side of Alcaraz’s court and the World No. 3 was quick with the return.
Machac, looking to throw Alcaraz off balance, sent a cross-court backhand only to see the Spaniard slide and return the shot with precision. The ball lobbed high and Machac tried to capitalize by inviting Alcaraz to play close to the net. The 21-year-old was quick to go forward and sent a drop volley.
Machac responded with a double-handed backhand and Alcaraz, recovering with lightning speed from his previous position, made the return which fell so close to the net that Machac could not reach in time, conceding the point to Alcaraz.

I tried to take the positive things about my losses in the United States, it has been really tough to find, but I found it. Trying to not make the same mistakes about my level and in the mental side here. Trying to be a little bit more mature, to improve a little bit. I'm here with a lot of energy, excited and have motivations to keep going here, to try to be the best No. 1 possible for Team Spain and get as much wins as I can as a team.Carlos Alcaraz said (H/T: Davis Cup)
