Carlos Alcaraz, the 17-year Spanish prodigy has often been compared with fellow countryman, Rafael Nadal. Alcaraz is without a doubt, one of the most promising talents on tour and the amount of maturity and skill he shows on tennis courts at the age of just 17 is quite commendable.

He got an opportunity of his lifetime, when he trained with Rafael Nadal in the build-up to the Australian Open 2021. Out of the several training sessions he has had, Alcaraz stated that the one with Nadal topped his list.

“All players are good at training, but it is always more special to do it with your idol, which in my case is Rafa (Nadal). It was an unforgettable, unique experience that I will always keep,” said Alcaraz in an interview to Marca.

Carlos Alcaraz has had a successful start to his 2021 season, where he competed in the main draw at the Australian Open 2021. This was his first Grandslam appearance and it seems that he is destined for big things in the future.

The 17-year old’s biggest win of the season came at the Adelaide International where he breezed past David Goffin in straight sets and reached the third round. Currently, the Spaniard is competing at his home tournament in Marbella, where he breezed past Nikola Milojevic in straight sets in the first round. Next up, he will face his fellow countrymen, Feliciano Lopez in the second round clash.
