Carlos Alcaraz has humbly declined any comparison with champion players like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal. The 21-year-old got into the history books after a massive win over Djokovic at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships final on Sunday (July 14).
Djokovic’s bid for an eighth Wimbledon title was ended by the young Spaniard once again. While he lost a five-set thriller last year, he was beaten a lot more comprehensively by Alcaraz this year.

After Djokovic made a terrible start to the match, Alcaraz made the most of it and stayed on top throughout the contest, denying his opponent any chance of making a comeback. He beat the Serbian in straight sets to join an elite group of players to have won both the French Open and the Wimbledon.
The World No. 3 however refused to put himself next to the likes of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. While happy with his performance, he said he needed to do a lot more in the sport to be considered alongside the aforementioned legends.
I’m just building my path, my journey, my career. I consider champions the big guys who’ve won 15, 14, 20 grand slams. Those guys who are eating at the big table. I want to be there one day.
Carlos Alcaraz said at a press conference
He is just the second man (after Federer) in the Open Era to win his first four Grand Slam finals. Additionally, he has won his fourth Grand Slam title by playing fewer matches at the level than any of the Big 3.
Carlos Alcaraz lifts his trophy from the legendary Wimbledon club house balcony
Carlos Alcaraz became a two-time Wimbledon champion after beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the 2024 final. Throughout the fortnight this year, he fended off every other competitor who challenged him, sometimes easily and sometimes doing it the hard way.

After successfully defending his title, Alcaraz roared in delight and celebrated with his family and team. As is traditional, he was handed the prestigious trophy by the Princess of Wales, Catherine, and later headed to the historic balcony to celebrate the win with the fans.
